Mounting a Link 10 Battery Monitor
Yahoo Message Number: 102811
Hi All - I'm getting ready to install a Link 10 battery monitor in Priscilla (1991 MB) and would appreciate any thoughts as to where to mount the meter and how best to run the wires.  Thanks for any input here.

Carol.

Carol,
I put all my "controls" for solar, Prosine inverter, and link-10, above the microwave in my '05 MB "Yonder". There's pics in the photo album.
This involves removing the microwave (easy) and running the wires through the cabinet above the stove (harder). One could also run the wires down behind the vent pipe in the corner behind the sink.

all the best,

Thanks Bumper - the pics were great.  Very nice installation.  My MB, however, has the microwave above the stove hood ....just a little different from yours.
On the 1991 MB the battery compartment is on the curbside just forward of the entry door (would that be under the dinette floor?).
I was thinking of trying to run the wires from the battery compartment to the space just above the electrical panel on the end of the galley counter.  Does anyone know how the wires are run from the converter to  the battery?  Maybe I could follow that route if I have enough Link 10 cable.

Thanks for your ideas.
Carol.

I recemtly installed a Freedom inverter/charger and a Link 1000 controller on my 1997 30IB. In my case the battery compartment is directly beneath the referidgerator and beside the entry door. I mounted the Link 1000 control panel in the wall for the fridge just adjacent to the door at about eye level and mounted the shunt beneath the fridge in area parallel to top of the battery compartment. In my case, this wall has some 1/2 inch styrofoam insulation in it which is loosely mounted and not too much trouble for access. I also  discovered the my LD has a false floor area between the kitchen cabinet (on drivers side) and the fridge area on curb side. All of my factory battery cables, 2 water lines, and an a 110 VAC cable was already running through it. I was able to add (2) 10/3 AC cables for my inverter and (1) 14/2 ac cable to these runs without too much trouble. I don't know if the MB has the same false floor or not.
