"It's worth pointing out that the ScanGaugeII can also read out OBD-II diagnostic codes. Normally this is something a mechanic would do, but if your engine starts acting screwy while you're in the middle of nowhere, it can be helpful to be able to read out the fault codes(s) to service people."

I might add that once you get the fault codes, you can search for them on Google to get reports from others who have had that code and solved the problem.  You might also want to add 'Ford' to the search as the same code numbers can apply to other vehicles.   I had one on my Honda the other day and found that my wife had not securely tightened the gas cap!

Hi Barry, I'm technically challenged but think my ScanGaugeII is a pretty neat gadget.  I am especially comforted knowing error codes are readily convenient, just in case.  Also, on my 2003, I sometimes think the gauges are simply painted on the panel -- they never seem to change! Once I had overheating issues with one of my automobiles.  That experience spooks me no matter what I'm driving even though it's not an issue with my LD.  The ScanGauge gives me specific temperature information -- much more reliable than what appears on my instrument panel.

I'm also vertically challenged, and it seemed the best location for mine was on the steering column.

As to where to purchase yours, I'd recommend buying direct from Linear Logic.  They answer the phone, they answer emails; their customer and tech support is impeccable.  "On my way," I took my II to their storefront in Mesa for an upgrade; they reprogramed it on the premises and didn't charge me.

I'm in Northern AZ and I agree fully with Lorna's comment.  They also did my upgrade, free of charge, while I waited.

Well, I got the ScanGauge in today.  One of the things I learned is that if you go under the dash and up the "A" pillar or around the back of the dash to try and get it somewhat in the middle of the dash, you quickly run out of data cord.  I put the plug in the data port, zip tied it, pulled off the bottom of the dashboard under the steering wheel, ran the cord up to the "A" pillar, around the dash by the windshield and then out near the 12 volt power outlets.  Had just enough cord, but wish I would have had another 6 to 9 inches.  Anyway, it is in, set up and working just fine.

Again, thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

I was wondering where you have mounted the instrument and were you happy with the location.
