Trouble with generator May 14, 2009, 03:19:05 pm Yahoo Message Number: 102313I need some advise. I have a 95 LD with the Onan generator. Today when I tried to start the generator it would start and run only as long as I held down the start switch. As soon as I let the switch go to the center position the generator died. Using the switch at the generator instead of inside, the same thing happened.Any thoughts? Thanks Ed

This usually occurs after the rig has sat for some time and the genset has not been run. I usually have to let it run for a couple of minutes with the start button held down (once or twice) and then the unit finally catches. I am assuming that the unit needs to clear the "stale" fuel in the line or reservoir bowl. I typically do not drain the glass bowl as recommended before storage. However, this protocol has worked for me w/o fail. Good luck!!

That'll cut off fuel to the generator... a feature designed to prevent you from running the tank dry and then not being able to move the rig.2. Have you checked your generator's oil level? The Onan generator has a sensor that will shut it off if the oil level is low.Hope this helps!Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/
