For all you fulltimers, whether solo or not, and all of you who are thinking about it, I know that a medical emergency is one of the biggest fears.  Well, I had one and it was a biggy.  No personal details but, a 3 AM 911 call from a fairly remote SP in FL had an ambulance at the rig really fast (and half the cg too).  The Host took charge of the dog and the ambulance took me to the ER.  Fortunately, I knew one person in the area and she found people to put the rig in storage and take care of the dog.  After 3 weeks in the hospital (2 in the ICU), I was released and, with help, got me, dog and LD to a private cg where I could stay to recover.  With FL Home Health Care (a Medicare feature), I had almost daily visits from RNs and physical therapists at my RV!  On craigslist I found a gal to help with dog care and cleaning.  Then she found another gal in the cg to also help.  And her husband was able to do repair and maintenance work on the LD as well.  After 6 weeks there, I was ready to go back on my own and I've been back on the road ever since.
The moral of the story, IMHO, is to rely on the kindness of strangers.  Especially in a serious emergency, they seem to always step up to help.  And though this is the way it happened for me, I can see lots of other scenarios that would've been equally viable.  Bottom line:  it sure wasn't fun but me, and dog, and LD all got through it just fine.  So if that's your fear, my experience says, "Come on out here.  Fulltiming, even solo is fabulous.  And you can cope with whatever presents itself."

Safe travels to all,

Susan, I'm glad you were able to find so many helpers--and that you're back in your rig! :-)
When I suffered a kidney stone attack in the summer of 2006 while at a state park in Wyoming, I was lucky enough to be with my friends Kate & Terry, who took excellent care of me. The story is here:

Glad you are feeling better, Susan... Ever since I read about you fixing your cab-over, you have been really admired for your "pluck"!

Thank you for sharing from a wannabee that is recovering from a tree falling on her in her stick house. I don't feel as brave and fearless as I did before.  But still working towards my first LD. Nancy in Atlanta
