Travel Data May 12, 2009, 02:33:05 pm Yahoo Message Number: 102284For several years we have been camping with a group. Everyone in the group has used tents. This past year my wife and I saved enough money to buy a 22FL. This past weekend we went camping with the group for the first time this year. Maria and I were the only ones in a RV. We are all in our late 20's, early 30's and several kids have been added to the group. The most finically secure member of our group is 30 years old and left the teaching profession to become a full time investor. This has paid off for him very well financially. He typically works one to two days a week. He is very interested in RVing and I have shared with him Andy's website, Andy's book and another book Andy suggested about full timing. This friend is a data guy and likes facts. Andy has a spreadsheet on his website about how much full timing costs him. We analyzed Andy's numbers and deducted that full timing is possible for him. Maria and I are spring and summer weekend campers because we work as high school teachers nine months a year. We have shared with Jared (friend) how much camping costs us. Our numbers do not work for him because Jared would use his RV more than us. He would like to work from the RV for a period of time. This past weekend, I told him he can take our 22FL for a weekend by himself (he is bachelor) to see how he likes RVing. Our question for the LD group, can you guys provide us with information or point us in a direction where we can find data about the costs associated with RVing? I know these numbers change yearly and there are many variables involved. The information created by barry_barnes in the files section of the website about the Alaska trip was very informative. Any additional spreadsheets or information would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks for the help. Rob, Maria and Selah (1 year old)

Have your friend read the Escapees Discussion Forum at http://www.rvnetwork.com/. This subject has been brought up and discussed a lot there, so if he uses the search engine, he should come up with lots of reading material. In addition, many of the people who post on that forum include their expenses on their blogs/websites that are in their signatures. As you have surmised, fulltiming expenses can range from the steak and caviar lifestyle to the pork and beans lifestyle. If you spend 365 days in RV parks, you'll spend more in camping fees than someone who boondocks all or most of the time. By the same token, if you travel every single day, or every few days, you'll spend more on fuel than someone who sits for a month or more in one place. And, if you eat out every meal, you'll spend more than someone who prepares their own meals in their RV. There are people who fulltime nicely on very little...have your friend Google "Tioga George" and read his blog.Linda Hylton http://map.datastormusers.com/user1.cfm?user=1167 http://earl-linda.blogspot.com/

He is doing Mexico now because he can't really afford the USA. http://vagabonders-supreme.net/BudgetInfo/BudgetInfo.htmHe is a kick to follow if you can swallow that he refers to his equipment by personal name, and the plural form "we" did this or that.[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
