Sunroof in place of swamp cooler?
Yahoo Message Number: 100122
Hey, has anyone removed the swamp cooler and just put a rooftop cover over the opening?  When we removed the A/C today, the rig was flooded with beautiful light.
Imagine how great that sunlight would look in our narrow-body Mid-Bath, right in the rather cramped hallway!
Besides that, getting the swamp cooler (which doesn't work) out would allow more headroom and make it look more open in the hallway.
We could always add a fantastic fan later if wanted, but I don't think we need it there with one in the lounge area just 3 feet away.
Of course, we'd have to trim out the opening somehow, but I'm really jazzed with that idea.

What do you think?

No need to imagine it, because most midbaths have exactly the setup you described. Swamp coolers haven't been standard in something like 15 years, and haven't even been an option in a decade or so. In most LDs, that vent is a skylight, keeping the hallway from being dark and claustrophobic. :-)

Thanks Andy!
So I guess I have seen this skylight before, like in your rig and others, but can't remember?  Well, I'm just going to have to pull out the old pics and admire my completely non-original idea!
That is good news- means the Mothership will have the skylight- terrific!

Tessa, I realize a swamp cooler in your part of Texas is pretty much worthless, but for travel to dryer climes it could be a benefit to you, especially when dry camping (no electric).  Why don't you fix the s c and leave it in?  Just a thought...

"You have me thinking maybe I will remove old fantastic fan and put in non-powered vent or skylight..."
Oh, heavens, I would never suggest eliminating a Fan-Tastic fan! With a white or smoke vent lid and a white vent cover (e.g., Aero-Flo), a Fan-Tastic fan lets in plenty of light. It's not a case of choosing fan or skylight. You can have both. :-)

Sorry Andy if I was not clear but since I'm replacing the swamp cooler with the MaxxFan basically the same as the Fantastic Fan.  Not making sense to me to have two fans right next to each other that do the same thing.

Oh, I see! Yeah, I agree--that wouldn't make much sense.
