Consumer Reports rated this hand vacuum very highly:

Any users' comments on the vac's efficiency, ease of cleaning, and battery life?  TIA.

Since no one has chimed in here, I will say that I looked it up and it has a fairly high rating on Amazon (which I'm sure you already know).
It seems to be a bit scarce, only available from third party dealers, I wonder where it would be available locally.
I'd sure appreciate hearing your eventual findings.  We're happy with our vacuum for the floors but would really like a handheld for everything else.

--- Thanks, Kate.  I might have received better results had I posted the *correct model number* of the hand vac; it's PHV1800, not PSV1800.
Pitiful.... ;-)

Oh, I just noticed this.  I bought one of these B&D vacuums last February (I think), at Lowes or Home Depot.  It has turned out to be the only hand vac I've ever liked.  We have a scottie dog (max fuzz), and it cleans up very well.  It has a paper-like filter that can be washed, if you need to pick up wet or dirty stuff.  With the attachment, it can pick up things

I have this vaccumm as well and use it at home.  Works great for what it is.

No regrets!

Thanks for pointing out this tool. It's difficult to find an RV vac that is both effective and compact and cordless for those times you don't have shore power.
I've been using a combination of an old B&D versapack Dustbuster (with the better gold batteries) which is handy, and a DeWalt portable shop vac which runs off 12, 14.4 and 18volt DeWalt batteries as well as 110VAC and is wet/dry. It's small and a real gem. They're about $100 on eBay.

It looks like that 18volt PHV1800 (or it's little brother the 1200 with a 12v battery) is a candidate for replacing my dustbuster.

Is this the one? http://www.factoryauthorizedoutlet.com/dewalt/products/DC500.asp

Does it have attachments for carpet? How tall is it? ie will it fit into any outside storage bin?
