Pasta Express..A tall cylinder, into which you put pasta, boiling water to an inch or 2 above same, wait a few minutes, drain thru strainer lid and voila, ready.  When I got mine (About $9) I thought how great for RV's.  I use it at home all the time, no more big pots of boiling water or need for a strainer.  I do use angel hair or fettuccine.  This thing will cook veggies, shrimp etc.  No need for power, boil water on stove.  Didn't post before as I assumed all you smart people would know of this.  Hello Judi, I will try yr rice and pasta recipe.  Soncee

My experience with Pasta Express was entirely negative. Following the directions that came with it, I managed to dump the pasta and boiling water on my hand and floor.  Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, I tried it again.  The result was half-cooked spaghetti and really torqued jaws!  I thought about using the container as a vase, but ended up tossing it.  Glad you have had better luck with yours.
Ed's approach, trying a plastic container he already has, microwaving for short periods, stirring, letting it sit sound like it's worth a try, as long as the plastic is OK to use for microwave cooking.
