Looking for recommendations for pricing a LD

Good news / bad news...., the bad is I have decided to sell our 94 LD rear lounge since my kids are now full grown teenagers and we need more sleeping space...., the good news is we plan to move up to a later model 26.5' LD.  Can anyone help direct me toward a reasonable appraiser or a good website that really knows LD? I looked at a number of RV websites and our Yahoo for-sale section, but there seems to be a wide range of prices, miles, conditions, etc. I tried NADA but based on the questions it doesn't seem very accurate.... for example, does it have cedar siding or a slide out??? Our LD has 52K miles, Chevy 350, grey in color, garaged when not on the road. Not trying to make a killing, just would like to get a fair price and buy the larger LD.

Hi Dave, Perhaps you are aware that most newer LD's seem to sell for $12,000 to $17,000 more that NADA pricing.  You have to find a buyer that understands that, as most seem to realize on this forum.  I sold a 25 ft Mid bath on here 3 years ago to the third person who called, in less than 2 weeks.  I think it may be a bit different now with all of the economy and gas scares? I'm going to list my current 2001 30ft Island Bed on here soon.  It has over $10,000 worth of extras and is in pristeen condition with only 27,000 miles.  I was offered $50,000 for it about a year ago, but decided to keep it a bit longer.  But now due to a health scare we are going ahead with our plans to sell it soon.  It is a rare 30ft that sleeps 6 rather than 4 that most 30ft island beds sleep. It has matching awnings on all the windows.  We will now lower the price to somewhere around $46,500 for quick sale. I also added 6 brand new Mitchlin tires with around 500 miles on them to sweeten the deal.
If you might have any interest or ?'s, please call anytime.  I will be glad to tell you many reasons why we like the 30ft so much more than our previous 25ft Midbath LD.

I think so. Judging by the state of RV sales in general, and the unprecedented number of Lazy Daze coaches for sale in our Files area, I'd expect to see selling prices much closer to NADA's than a few years ago. I don't have any hard numbers to back that up, mind you... but given how hard it is to sell *anything* these days, it seems likely.

I think so. As someone who reads the LD For Sale ads within this Group, regularly, I have some observations as to what causes some of the buyer confusion in knowing what the "right" price is for a used LD and it can be summed up as inconsistency of content in the ads which I would respectfully suggest can be countered by adhering to this checklist: (i) follow the listing form Andy makes available so nothing is missed (ii) don't list as supposed features of your LD what are in fact standard items on that year's model (iii) disclose the NADA Average Retail Price, without any including any of the options on the NADA list, but detailing your mileage, which then gives the standard model, mileage adjusted, as the benchmark price - you know the buyer is going to look the figure up anyway (iv) list factory options with the cost of each of those options which is now starting to justify some of the difference between NADA and your price (v) list upgrades with the cost of the upgrade less the cost of the original item and when upgraded (vi) list aftermarket add-ons (they are add-ons, not options) with the cost of each of those add-ons and when added and, in some cases, justify why you added them (vii) put a whole series of photos on flicker, picasa, wherever as opposed to "call me" for photos (viii) make sure the photos include all the key items, both inside and out since the potential buyer does want to see what the roof looks like, what color the furniture really is, because these are price intangibles, both positive and negative (ix) don't put your pet or yourself in the picture and take the bedding off so the furniture color and condition shows (x) list anything wrong with your LD since it is better to defuse an issue before a buyer inspection (xi) if you choose to list a reason for sale, make sure it is believable, which doesn't hold true if you give different reasons on different sites you advertise on
 You have now done everything I think you can do to justify your asking price with one exception and that is the need for the buyer to understand that there will probably still be an unquantified premium in the LD price that is an amalgam of: (a) factory-direct over depreciated by NADA in the first year (b) there is a cachet to the LD name through quality, looks, exclusivity, etc.

Just the hopefully constructive thoughts of an LD wannabe, at the "right" price

Good advice!
 I don't know how other people feel about this matter, but if I'm in the looking stage, I'm not going to contact the owner to have them send me pictures.  With the plethora of free picture-hosting sites on the Internet nowadays, there's no reason to be sending photos via email.  If you don't know how to download pictures to a picture hosting site, find someone who does.  Once I've viewed the pictures online, THEN and only then, will I contact the owner if I have questions or want to see a picture of something in more detail.
 Not only remove covers from the couches, but CLEAN UP.  I can't tell you how many times I've seen pictures of for sale rigs (not necessarily LDs) that have cr*p piled all over the place...clothes laying around, dirty dishes in the sink, etc.  I don't want to see your junk...I want to see the interior of the rig free from any extraneous stuff.

--- I agree with much of your "advice to sellers", but if I were going to sell my LD, I would simply *list* the factory-installed options and any after-market add-ons; I would omit any "line item pricing", dates of additions, and any "justifications" for the options, additions, or modifications. Besides not necessarily being timely or *relevant* -- what I paid for an option or an add-on in 2003 would very likely be (a lot) less than the same thing would cost today -- listing costs of each option and add-on and improvement could very quickly lead to "TMI" and be a turn off to a buyer; at least, it would be for me!

If a serious potential buyer showed interest, I would *then* candidly and thoroughly discuss any relevant "what and why" details of my choices and changes with him/her. I would hope that most folks who end up their RV search with a Lazy Daze in their sights are already pretty savvy about the value of the rig itself and aware of (the values of) many, if not most, of the most popular options and aftermarket add-ons. But, as ever, YMMV.
