Color preference is as subjective as anything can be.  As to blue being the most attractive because there are more blues sold than any other color, when I bought my unit I was urged rather strongly to buy blue, as that was the color that held up best and needed the least care.  Still, I chose silver/charcoal.

I will second the vote for the 'two-tone brown'!

I can tell you for a fact that red does fade - maybe more than any other color.  After 6 1/2 yrs of ownership and even having covered storage and faithfully waxing once a year, there is fading, especially on the front and rear which tend to get more sun in my storage facility.  Open the faux tire cover hinged door and compare the protected red underneath to the exposed red and there is a huge difference.  Were I to buy new again I would probably get blue because it seems to fade less.

When I was getting ready to order my '08, I asked Steve about color choice vs fading. My LD, when not in use, is stored outside in the Florida sun.
Steve said: Best choices: Blue then Green.
Worst choices: Red then Silver.

--- I chose green when I ordered in 2003; after 5+ years and a few "road dings" here and there, the finish still looks almost as good as new. If I were to buy a new Lazy Daze, I'd stick with "classy" green! ;-)

"The 'Weekend camping only' crowd is definitely larger, but don't forget the 'Travelling' crowd. The latter group is not interested in excessive carrying capacity."
Camping styles vary so widely that pigeonholes like these aren't very useful when it comes to determining how much capacity is desirable. I can tell you that I have never met an RVer who described their rig's cargo capacity as "excessive"! ;-)

We could speculate all day about who's in what arbitrary category.
What is undeniable is that two out of three RVs on the road are overweight. That's based on more than 10,000 weighings by the RV Safety and Education Foundation--the best statistical sample available to us.

If two out of three RVs are overweight, then two out of three RV owners need more cargo capacity than they have. In short, this is not an issue that can be dismissed by saying "Only a minority is interested in CCC." If they aren't interested, they should be!

"I would bet that less than 1% of RV's owners fulltime."

Well, we can't determine that for RVers on the whole, but thanks to some work by Don Malpas, we can at least survey our own group:

I'm betting a lot more than 1% of us are fulltimers. :-)

We have 54 responses so far to our poll on how people use their rigs--for short trips, long trips or full-time RV living. If you haven't already voted, you can do so here:

http://andybaird.com/travels/poll.htm>

...and you can monitor the results here:

So far, fulltimers and snowbirds (4 months or longer per year) make up a third of the responses... despite the conventional wisdom that almost nobody full-times in class C motorhomes. :-)

A wannabe category (for me) would be nice.

When I made up the response categories i.e.
Trips of 1 to 3 months It was in my mind that the period was cumulative for all trips taken during a year. We are out 6 to 9 months a year, but that is over 2 or 3 trips.
To take a one month trip, it's odds on you are retired, so over 70% of responders are retired. I am not surprised.

There have been no more guesses about the expected price of the Kodiak. Chris H had a figure of $149,000. I guessed $102,000.

As you can tell, I am bored. It's cold. We are going to have to pack KoKo in the cold. Florida by next weekend. In the words of TH woohoo!

We used our LD fifty nights last year - our highest number of annual nights since buying it 7 years ago. We are retired and our longest trip has been three weeks. Most trips are 7 days or less. I chose 'weekends and vacations' category even tho we don't necessarily only go on weekends. Interesting poll!

Say Andy, where is the beginning of this thread?  Must be under a different subject string?

I use mine every weekend during the ski season and take two one week trips and one two week trip in addition.  More that 12 weekends a year.

"Say Andy, where is the beginning of this thread? Must be under a different subject string?"

It originated with the Kodiak thread, which had turned into a discussion of cargo carrying capacity... and specifically, with a comment by one member (message #98524) implying that CCC was not an issue for most RVers, because "I would bet that less than 1% of RV's owners fulltime." With 82 votes so far, it's too early to talk about specific numbers, but it's already apparent that fulltimers constitute considerably more than one percent of this group. :-)

Of course the data can be skewed by the people who belong to this group as compared to all current Lazy Daze owners.  Either way of course.

We use Miss Dazey (26.5 IB) -5 months each summer- one trip-from our winter 5th wheel in AZ.  Just completed the 4th summer like this. We are now towing the CRV instead of driving separately, and put over 5,000 miles on each summer.

Hoping that the several people who have posted details of their LD usage have also voted.
 http://andybaird.com/travels/poll.htm

I see we are up to 129 voters. North of 200 it might become statistically meaningful.

Not surprising is that 86 of the 129 use their LD on weekends, vacations and trips of less than three months.

15 OF THE 129 ARE FULL TIMERS!

Knocking myself in the head for not putting in a category for Ciao Baby, who is in a class of her own.

I admit I hadn't voted until just now.  I didn't really want to vote right now because I don't like my current answer and it will be different in 5 weeks and it will change again when I sell my house!!
I decided to go ahead and retire at the end of February, even though I haven't sold my house.  So that means starting March 1 I will travel 2 - 3 weeks a month.  Once my house sells, I'll become a fulltimer!! I'm ready to do that now, anyone want a house in Georgia??

We, too, would have to answer, "None of the above", or "Several of the above".  We used our LD for six years for trips of 1-2 weeks, 4-6 weeks, and almost a year as fulltimers.  Last spring we had to give up RVing for health reasons. When spring returns, we'll try to sell the LD. Until then, we're referring to the LD as the "guest cottage". ;^)
Of course, if things continue downhill, we may end up living in a van down by the river!
