no longer a wannabe

I have been lurking, with occaisional comments for the last year. For Christmas, we visited my parents and they gave us their 93 Multiplan. It is in great shape, just needs a little TLC. My mom got a little bit choked up, saying it was the end of an era. But they are getting too old to deal with it. They hope we will start making our own wonderful memories.
So I know I will have tons of questions, but right now I just want to bask in the glow.
Coming home we did have a little excitement though. I didn't realize that the fuel gauge was so close to done, and ran out of gas. There was a construction cement wall on the right, so I had no choice but to veer into the left and the center, grassy median. My husband, who was driving our car, pulled over after me. Imagine my surprise when I got out to tell him I ran out of gas, and there was a Highway Patrolman walking behind him. Since he believed it was our first day with the rig, he let us off the hook, and called for a gas delivery. He said I was very lucky because earlier in the week a construction worker sunk up to his axels in the mud. Actually, considering that the power steering and power braking disappeared when the engine cut out, the LD handled GREAT! She took a loooong time to come to a stop, but she held straight.
Now she just needs a name. And yeah, somehow she feels female to me.

Congrats! I know how excited I was driving home my new to me 93 RB earlier this year and I paid money for it!  Glad that you or your LD did not suffer any injuries.  I named mine "Sky" for "Big Sky" since I live

What a lovely Christmas gift, a new (to you) Lazy Daze!

Feel free to ask as many questions as needed, this is a great and most helpful group.  While your experience with the grassy median was no doubt frightening, it was perfect lesson in the superior handling of the Lazy Daze!

Hope we can meet up down the road.

Kate
