New member intro

I have been reading messages here at the site for some time now and...
 It's about time I post an intro and also inform  any interested members that my brother who is still listed as a member here (known as chausiedad) has passed away. He left us on December 21st after a short two month battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by family and is now greatly missed by his wife,4 children & their spouses and many many friends.  And me, his little sister. He was my only sibling and his passing has changed my life in SO many ways. I think I am still in shock.
 My dh, Gerry, and I purchased the motorhome that he and his wife had purchased a few years ago here in California. It remains in storage in AZ at their home until we can return to pick it up in the Spring. The weather in surrounding passes had us snowed in for much of mid-December.
 This is not our first motorhome, but it is our first LazyDaze. It is a 96 rear bath 26 ft that my brother bought and kept in nearly mint condition. WE are about to embark on a totally different way of life and will be "mining" this list for info and perhaps at times asking totally dumb questions. I did not know your brother but sorry for your loss.  When I was looking for used LD I was hoping to find a Ford 96 RB but just didn't work out.  I ended up with a 93 Ford RB.  For used I think the 96 Ford LD is best year since it was the last year for the 460 engine before the V10.

First off, condolences on the loss of your brother.  That said, I'm sure he would be happy knowing his beloved LD is in the hands of family that will appreciate it and relive fond memories of him every time they use it!

Since you are in Colorado, I'll mention that we spend most of our time in New Mexico, and will be volunteering this summer at Ghost Ranch up in Abiquiu.  If you find yourselves in the area, stop by, we'd love to meet up.

Kate, maybe you could share with us what kind of volunteer work you will be doing at Ghost Ranch.  That is such a beautiful area.  I spent 4 days in Oct. at the COE Abiquiu Reservoir and drove home through Chama and vowed to go back and spend a week or so exploring the Abiquiu and Chama areas.

Chris, if you like geologic oddities and can hike a bit, the Tent Rocks are worth a visit.

Chris,
 We visited Ghost Ranch several months ago and were so taken with how beautiful it was, we started asking around and found there is a campground there.  We got to talking with the Host and found out that it was a volunteer position.  We went into the Center and filled out volunteer forms.  It was a bit more than others we've filled out, but we thought it was such a lovely place we didn't mind.  A few weeks later we got a phone call from one of our references telling us Ghost Ranch had called and were checking all our information.  Glad we had good references!
 A few weeks later we got a call and were offered the position of Camp Hosts for this next summer.  They wanted a four month commitment, but we got them down to two with an option for more (we just want to be sure we like it there).
 It will be regular Camp Host duties with a bit of light housekeeping, but they have a regular housekeeping staff, so we're not too concerned wit that.  Mostly it will be social and helping out around the campground.

For that we'll get a site with full hookups and three meals a day
