No plans. We never go out on New Year's Eve...too crowded, too many drunks out on the road. We have reservations for the month of January at an RV park near Tucson bordering the southern edge of Saguaro National Park West, so on New Year's Eve, we'll probably be staying at Coyote Howls Campground in Why. No matter which Holiday you celebrate at this time of year, Earl and I wish you Happy Holidays and hope you all have a wonderful 2009!Linda Hylton http://map.datastormusers.com/user1.cfm?user=1167 http://earl-linda.blogspot.com/

My idea of the best way to usher in the new year is with a good night's sleep. However, I have found that new year's day is a good time to travel. The roads are pretty much empty, while the rest of the world sleeps off its hangover. ;-)Happy and safe holidays to all! :-)Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/

Fun and festive with pot lucks, campfire talk and games. The original handful has grown to dozens. Open if you are in the area, drop in.

LED Rope Lights Reply #6 – December 19, 2008, 11:47:52 am Yahoo Message Number: 98016This year we installed rope lights in the rear lounge of our MB. We are pleased with the effect. Several people have asked where to get the rope lights, so I have posted a file in the Improvements section of Files. These are not the same type of rope lights you get at the big box stores.New Years Eve? Probably with some other SE LD folks at a COE facility near Eufaula, AL. Death Valley would be nice, but it's 2,500 miles from here.Dorothy 26 MB Koko SE #21

Reply #9 – December 20, 2008, 11:34:30 am Yahoo Message Number: 98025My Kingston Trio "tribute" group, The Three Jolly Coachmen, will again do three shows as part of Williamsburg's huge "First Night" celebration (_http://www.firstnightwilliamsburg.org/performers.php_ (http://www.firstnightwilliamsburg.org/performers.php) ), and use the A/Bus as our Band Bus in between shows. It's a lot of fun and a great way to use an RV. Merry Christmas to all my LD friends! What are you doing New Years Eve? Reply #10 – December 21, 2008, 08:43:48 am Yahoo Message Number: 98036I'll be hunkered down in my driveway in NJ, my front end 9" in the air on blocks to level my rig, continuing to empty my house and make cabinets, storage stuff, etc., as I figure out plans. I have been here since December 1 and am learning a LOT about how to live in my RV before I leave here mid-January. Once I am done, I will get some photos and post them showing the mods. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, happy holidays to all. Ken

Hunkering down? We'll be at our usual spot, camped safely with family and friends at Painted Rock near Casa Grande. We "circle the wagons", build a fire, sip and lie for 2-3 days. At that point, all the tales are told, and we go home until we meet the next year. It all started with the Y2K thing, and has taken off from there. Re: What are you doing New Years Eve? Reply #12 – December 21, 2008, 01:45:13 pm Yahoo Message Number: 98042We don't celebrate New Years. As any dog owner knows New Years and the 4th of July are the worst days of the year for dogs because of all the noise. We stay home and hunker down. A good walk on the beach the next morning is often propitious as the drunks tend to lose a lot of stuff though it's also littered with debris from fireworks and somewhat depressing. Frankly I don't like the calendar. Today is winter solstice is it not? That's a day that actually has scientific significance. Isn't this the shorted day of the year and then the days start getting longer. Today would be a day I would call special not an artificial day based on a transient calendar but the calendar is a whole nother issue.Michelle * http://safoocat.blogspot.com/%c2%a0 * http://flickr.com/photos/safoocat/ * http://amazon.com/shops/safoocat As an Amazon Associate Lazy Daze Owners' Group earns from qualifying purchases.

Michelle,I always take my dogs outside when the fireworks start, and we play games for a couple hours with LOTS of treats. They now will look up when they hear fireworks, perhaps they see them? Then they resume playing for treats. I've done this since 1999 with my dogs - fireworks do not bother them in the least. They'd rather play for cookies!Cheers,Helen
What are you doing New Years Eve? Reply #14 – December 22, 2008, 11:04:03 am Yahoo Message Number: 98072According to the weather channel, Miami is the only warm place to go. So, Karen and I are planning on spending New Years Eve on Miami Beach. Unfortunately, Fiona the LD is stuck in a snow bank along side the garage so we will be forced to stay in a timeshare.Cheers,Greg

Clever idea though. Up here in the mountains where we live it's more likely to be explosions like cherry bombs in a barrel and there won't be anything in the sky because it's a forest.Michelle * http://safoocat.blogspot.com/%c2%a0 * http://flickr.com/photos/safoocat/ * http://amazon.com/shops/safoocatMichelle,I always take my dogs outside when the fireworks start, and we play games for a couple hours with LOTS of treats.
