Could the fuse board go bad?
I think that would be extremely unlikely unless it was physically twisted or scraped in a manner that would make the damage obvious.  Any damage that would blow the 30 A fuses with the converter running would also blow them when only the battery was connected.

The advice Steve gave in message 97744 about checking the converter output with a multimeter sounds like the best way to isolate the problem.

The converter output is 0v. I removed it, re-installed the original converter and powered it up with no fuses blowing. I measured output at 13.78v and it supplied 12v power with no problems other than the odor that I assume it due to overheating. I am hoping that replacing with a another new converter will solve the problem. I just don't see how it can be a problem with wiring.
Thanks to everyone who posted. I'll let you know how it goes with the replacement

I recently realized that I never posted with the final solution to the problem so here it is. We sent back the new converter and Best sent out a replacement. Hooked it up and all worked fine. Thanks again to everyone for your input. You guys are the best RVing community out there :)
