FYI & If you subscribe to MotorHome magazine- I noticed in the December issue that just hit- that Born Free Coach has 8 full page color ads , includiing the inside cover, which list all their models & floorplans etc. including base prices...!!!Smart advertising or Kind of a sign of the times..?? They're either doing really good financially or hurting very much..!! Whatcha think..?? FYI- Lazy Daze ads = ZERO for several months now.
Just an observation...Gene

Hi Gene,
I would venture to guess that they are very much hurting, like every other RV manufacturer whose business depends on stable employment conditions, available credit and consumers that are confident about their future prospects(not to mention high gasoline prices). Those three things have vanished

--- Gene, I don't know much LD's business has been affected by the overall condition of the economy, but there *is* a half-page color ad for Lazy Daze on page 38 of the November 2008 issue of "Motorhome" magazine.

Talking about ads and what not...for years Harley Davidson never did any advertising that I can recall....they were at the top of their game and figured they didn't need to. Regards..John O.

I also noticed the LD ad was missing in the December and October issues. Maybe they are doing every-other-month. I did look at the Born Free models at this years show in Hershey Pa. I asked a factory rep why they did not have the 32' on the Kodiak chassis. He told me they have only sold seven since they introduced it three years ago. They did have the 28' on the Kodiak chasis and it did not due much for me. I also hope Lazy Daze survives these tough times.

Depending on the frequency they are run, from one to 36 issues, full color half page ads to reach Motor Home's 145,000 subscribers can be a sizeable investment. Six times a year goes for $9265 each and every month $8275 a pop. Full pages every month are $12,425. I imagine off rate card deals can be made, but whatever the cost it isn't cheap. I imagine LD may have better uses for that kind of money right now. Its not like they have to run ads to sell their product. Hershey managed to sell a hell of a lot of chocolate for tens of years and never ran ads.
Reputation, awareness, customer satisfaction, and quality of product sell. We like to see the ads, too, sort of bask in reflected glory, but we owners are about the only advertising LD really needs.
