Severe weather

Amazingly, I took my own advice!  Yesterday, our part of east Texas was under a severe storm watch.  We got a call from friends who live in a "real" house about an hour away, but who happened to be in CO.  They saw the weather forecast for our area on the Weather Channel, and called to suggest that we go stay in their house overnight.  I was surprised that Bob, who usually sleeps through storm warnings, agreed to go.  We packed up the dogs, a change of undies and our toothbrushes; stowed the satellite dish, and headed to town.  As forecast, the bad weather did develop.  Polk County, where the LD is, was under a tornado warning for a while, but got by with high winds.   A bit farther north got tennis-ball size hail. We definitely slept better last night, knowing we'd made the right decision.  If the friends' house had not been available I would have opted for a sturdy motel.  It was still nice to get back home to the LD today, though.

We're in Whitney, TX, about 30-some miles north of Waco.  We, too, were under a storm watch, but no tornado watch.  Fortunately, all we got was some rain...the bulk of the storm passed to the east of us.  We had our eyes glued to the Weather Channel all day, though! ;-)
