Profill water system problem
Yahoo Message Number: 89121
Tried to top off the batteries today. When I first squeeze the bulb it collapses and does not re-inflate and thus draws no water into the line. Had to disconnect the bulb from the line to get it to re-inflate.

Unit is less than a year old.

Anyone run into this before?

Jim:  If the bottom of your syringe hits anything solid it won't re- inflate.  Try lifting it up slighly and see what happens.

--- Jim, it could be a bad check valve.  You might want to look at File #18 on the Techsnoz site: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Techsnoz/ ; the file is all about Pro-fill problems, and includes ocntact information for Flow-Rite (the manufacturer of Pro-fill).  Also, use the "searchable archive" link on the home page of this message board; enter "Pro-fill check valve" and many posts will come up. Good luck.

Jim, You have a faulty check valve. It can be ordered from http://www.mcmaster.com/ Part # 7757k13, polypropylene spring loaded ball check valve 1/4 barb X 1/4 bard. $3.38 each.

Thanks to Joan and Malcolm.
Read the posts and Terry's page. We managed to get it working again by taking a turkey baster and shooting air into the upstream tube and heard something pop and it works.
Since, I expect it to fail again are these valves you are referring to the ones on either side of the bulb? My wife thought the pop sound came from the plastic piece near the upstream end not near the bulb but she could be mistaken.

There was a run of bad check valves a year or two back. Call Pro-Fill, and if that's the problem, they'll replace the bulb.

Malcolm,
Not all Profill bulbs and tubing are 1/4" ID (inside diameter).  Some, like mine, are 3/8" and the part you cited doesn't fit!  I know this from experience of having purchased the part.  The 3/8" barb check valves (McMaster part #7933K33) are rather long   (3 17/32") and at $11.43 each, a pair may cost more than a new Profill  bulb pump.

Anyway Jim, check the tubing ID before you order.

Jim, I had this problem last year.  I called Pro-Fill and they sent me an entire new tubing and bulb assembly.....for free.  The only caveat was that they asked me to mail the original one back to them.  Seemed like a pretty good deal to me.
