Costco Nuvi 360 $249

Costco has the Nuvi 360 for a good price at their online store. Sale goes until Feb 10, 2008  I've heard it *will* accept an external antenna but have not seen that feature on the Garmin site.  Anybody know for sure?

The 350 has an MCX antenna jack.  I've never had need for external.
Used it  on the windshield for our last 4000 mile + trip with only signal loss during heavy rain.  Garm

Yup, it does help, Ray.  If the 350 has it then the 360 does too.  I have a prewired Mighty Mouse II GPS antenna

I accidentally bent the tiny brass foot adapter that came with my Mighty Mouse II external GPS antenna.  I found various adapters for it on www.gpscity.com.  They come 3 to a package for about $13 if I remember right.  The Mighty Mouse II is aparently no longer available, but the Titan III has identical specs except it draws a few milliAmps more.  I followed Andy's advice and got the "straight in" adapters instead of the 90 degree adapter that came with the antenna.  That way the next time I start walking with the GPS unit and do not disconnect the cable first, the adapter is less likely to get bent.

There are some low cost ($20) GPS external antennas on the market, but they have "fixed" connectors on the cable end.  If you buy the GPS antenna with interchangeable adapters instead, when you damage the delicate connector or upgrade to a GPS unit with a different connector type, then it is easier to get a new connector rather than replace the antenna and route the cable all over again.

A Nuvi 360 for $250 is almost in the range of a Garmin map data upgrade for an old Garmin!
The 360 does have the antenna connector. And, Garmin decided to offer map upgrades for free to those who bought a unit within I believe 6 months of the map release. I got an update DVD for free for mine that I purchased in May of '07.  I've since sold it, but it was a great unit while I had it. I found the bluetooth feature very useful on our
8-week trip, it sync'd with my phone address book, displaying the
name info when someone called. Also when browsing through POI's, if a ph# was in the entry, you just click the telephone icon to call the business, and the call played over the speaker, making the unit a speakerphone as well.

Regards, Adam

It will not eliminate it, but it may reduce that sort of thing if you set your route option to Bus.
