T's Nissan Thermal Cooker - Recipe #1
Yahoo Message Number: 88730
Here's my gourmet effort (for lazy people):

1.  Buy red bag of Banquet's "Beef Pot Roast" of the Crock Pot  Classics ($4.16) in the frozen dinner section at grocery
2.  Combine the sauce packet, veggies, & meat in interior pot (put  potato packet in fridge)
3.  Add hot water to make it 80% full
4.  Boil on stove for 10 minutes
5.  Lock down in thermal cooker for 6 hours
6.  Remove internal pot, pour in the baggie of potatoes, and again  bring to a boil on the stove
7.  Return to lock down position for 30 minutes

Serve with crusty bread.

YUMMY!  Very tasty.  Highly recommended.
Fed 5 people with leftovers.
Just 3.5 grams of fat per serving too (although 660 mg on the sodium).

Enjoy, Chef Tess

Hi Tess,

Thanks for the recipe.  We are in between RV's; waiting on our LD pickup scheduled for late April.  I'm adding your recipe to my folder; we'll definitely give it a try this summer.

Thanks again.

OK Tess, are you going to start a cook book for the thermal cooker? T'would be a great plan!  I'm all set to try this recipie.  Our new cooker has had 2 great trial runs--chili and a bean pot.  Its a marvel.

I would be delighted to collect some thermal cooker recipes and save them for all.  Send them on, everybody!
Carl, I would really love your chili recipe and a beans recipe if you care to share.  Those sound great!  Extra points if the recipe has 3 or fewer ingredients.  :)

I have yet to find anything

Of course I am glad to share any recipies--these are really my good wife's productions.  They both are from "The Survivor's Handbook-- Eating Right For Cancer Survival".  Their meals are good for anyone interested in healthy eating.

Chili: 1 large onion chopped 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 16 oz cans kidney beans 1 16 oz can diced or crushed tomatoes 1 cup frozen corn 2 tablespoons chili powder 2 teaspoons cumin salt to tasts (we omit for heart health) pepper to taste (we omited it since we had none) garlic powder to taste (could use +/- 2 cloves instead)

Saute the onions in olive oil, add all the other ingredients, bring to boil, put into thermal cooker, and go play  until supper time.
NOTE--we added some water to this slumgullion to make it a little more liquidy--perhaps a cup--just what looks right.  We mixed it all up about noon, and ate it after a lengthy Quartzite happy hour--about 7 hours, and it was just eating temp.  I'm sure it would have been good without the happy hour.

Hearty Barbecued Beans 1 16 oz can vegetarian baked beans 1 15 oz can kidney beans 1 10 oz package of frozen baby lima beans 1 6 oz can crushed tomatoes 1 cup finely chopped onions 1 tablespoon cider vinegar 1 tablespoon molasses 2 teaspoons stone ground mustard (we used dry mustard--can also use plain old table mustard) 1 tablespoon chili powder

Dump all together into the pot, bring to boil for 5 minutes, and pack away  until supper time NOTE--we added 1/2 to 3/4 cup water to this again to make it more liquidy.  If I was in charge, I think I would add some liquid smoke to taste--but I'm not in charge.

We will look foreward to other thermal cooker recipies--thanks.

NOTE--I did NOT mean the "lengthy happy hour" was 7 hours long--just the time from prep to eating!!

Too Bad, I was beginning to think I might want to put Quartzite on my list of things to do.  I'm not into crowds, but the 7 hour happy hour made it interesting and possibly worth the crowds!!
