Shurflo 5.7 Advice

As Kate & Terry and Cholula Red can attest, it got mighty cold in New Mexico last week.  Our 2004 Shurflo failed on an outing(water pump inoperable)similar to a post last April, it will turn on when sensor is removed.  Likely caused by a drop of frozen water in membrane that made it prone to breakage per manufacturer.  I see from other posts that Shurflo recommends replacing sensor pump with new pressure switch. We have an appointment for RV service next week to repair or replace pump.  Group:  should we go the route of replacing the sensor with the pressure switch and crossing our fingers or just replace with a different pump? For those who have struggled with this pump in prior posts, any updates or insight is appreciated.

tipper (is that your real name?)

It seems that many have problems with the variable speed pumps.
I replaced our original Whisper King pump with a variable speed pump, which has given us nothing but trouble. I have replaced two of the variable speed pumps and when this last one goes, it will be replaced with a conventional pump, combined with an accumulator.

Hello.
We have a 2006 26.5 m/b and have had to replace the pump twice.  It simply failed.  The last time, I spoke with an engineer at shurflo, he indicated that the problem was the restrictive elbow where the water exits the pump.  He recommended replacing the elbow with the straight piece that comes with the new pump.  He stated that straight piece significantly reduces the backpressure on the pump.   It makes sense to me.  We'll see.
Hope that helps.
