Yahoo West GTG Morro Bay Sate Park April 4-6, 2008

The Yahoo West Board of Advisors has approved the weekend of April 4-6 as the Spring GTG at Morro Bay State Park.
We had a good turn out for last years GTG and many have asked for a repeat performance.
Reservations are necessary and are made through ReserveAmerica. Their website shows a nearly empty campground so now is the time to make your reservation.
Morro Bay is one of the State Park's system most popular parks and fills quickly so if you are interested in coming, do it now! ReserveAmerica has recently changed their policies and now you reserve particular sites, rather than picking a site out when you arrive.
We prefer the loop containing dry camping sites 86-106 due their larger sites.
Last year we concentrated in the area between site 92 and 96.
My wife and I have reserved site 94 and will arrive Thursday evening, April 3 Electrical and water hookups are available in sites 1-30, if you need them Morro bay campsite map

The Morro Bay area has a world of things to do ranging from walking and shopping to wine tasting and kayaking in the bay.
There is a nice, moderately priced restaurant, The Bayside Café, located at the State Park Marina and over looks the bay. It is located just a couple minutes walk from the campground. It is a good place for both lunch and dinner.
Plan on happy hour each night and a potluck one or both nights.

Just a reminder that the second annual Yahoo West Spring GTG will be held at Morro Bay State Park over the weekend of April 4-6, 2008.
Presently, eight rigs have reservations, several from last years GTG along with some new faces. If you own an LD, you are invited
Morro Bay is one of the State Park Systems most beautiful and popular parks and the campsites fill up fast.
If you have any intentions of attending, make your reservations soon.
Who knows, Arnold may shut this park down too so see it now!

--- Wish I could make it; we had a grand time last year!
Great people, food, and fun, and there's also *plenty* to do and see in the surrounding towns and areas, too.

Larry, It seems you can reserve individual sites with the above links. Is that true? If so, what sites should we try for? I read last year's post about the back loop near dump station, but have no idea what those site numbers are. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Joan! It's good someone is better using Art's wonderful archives than I am. Larry, if you see this, we're in site 62, just backing up to some of the group.

A common affliction of host and hostesses is the fear of throwing a party and no one shows. Well, I had similar feeling last week about our GTG at Morro bay. Two of the twelve LD owners that had reserved a site canceled so I was expecting maybe ten RVs.
We  arrived late Thursday evening, we were surprised to find eleven LDs there already and by the time the weekend was over, there were twenty LDs and 38 happy campers in camp.
Six rigs had attended one of the previous GTGs and the other 14 rigs were first-timers.
There was  a mix of LDs with most of the floor plans represented and rigs ranging from new to several vintage 80's rigs.
Attendees came from as far south as San Diego and as far north as Whidbey Island in Washington State.
During the days, everyone scattered with so many things to see and do. We regrouped each afternoon for Happy Hour and a delicious potluck. I marveled at the wide selection of foods and new friends to choose from.
Both evenings, we circled the fire pit seeking a little warmth and to share so many experiences and stories, not to mention a lot of talk about the ins and outs of LDs.
All in all, this weekend exceeded all of our expectations and I would like to thank everyone that attended for sharing their food, drink and friendship.
We most definitely will be doing this again.

We are interested in a Lazy Daze camping club. Have a

21' LD , live in San Anselmo, Ca.  [northbay area] and

are seeking a group who are basically located in the

San Francisco bay area, from San Jose to Redding or

thereabout.  We are retired and would be interested

in such a group and any information you can send to:

Thank you,   Dan & Jan McCarthy

WOW!, What a great way to kick off our trip to The Pacific Northwest.  We had a great time and met some GREAT people.  It was our first, but hopefully, if you folks will allow, not our last.  Enjoyed and look forward to meeting up with everyone in the future.
We now feel like real LD-ers

To Larry and all the Morro Bay Campers, Thanks so much for a great weekend.
We finally got our internet up and running and I was so pleased to see the great photos and was so impressed with everyone's hospitality and friendlness and generous tips for us novices. (You mean you have to add water to the batteries!) It was a delight, and we look forward to joining you again.
