Let me say right off the bat that there is nothing wrong with us or Cholula Red.

We have met a very nice lady who is soloing in a 2004 Airstream Bambi.  She has a water leak that we can't fix (at the pump, we just can't get it to stop).  We're all here at Bosque del Apache and we're assuming that she will have to go to Albuquerque for assistance.

I've got a call in to Mike and Lisa for a reference, and I see a reference in the database for Suburban RV from Bobbi and Eula, but it has no date, and since I don't know these folks, I can't contact them for particulars.
I've also talked with Dave in Albuquerque, and he gave me a name that a friend of his uses, but with wich he has no personal experience.

So can anyone give me a reliable recommendation to help this kind woman we've met?  She's also thinking about installing a TV satellite on teh roof, so I'd like her to go somewhere reliable.

Thanks in advance you guys.

Kate

We use Tom's RV Service.  Tom does great work and is a genuinely nice guy.  He can do it all.

Kate,

With regard to the lady Airstream owner with a water leak problem.

The folks at RV Sales in Moriarty are very reliable for repair work. They are the largest Excel 5th wheel dealer in the country in terms of sales.

In business for over 30 years, they have a service crew that can tackle any RV repair. Unfortunately for Lazy Daze and other motor home owners, they do not work on motor homes.

Since the lady you are inquiring for has an Airstream, they might be willing to help.

The contact is Kathy Chowning, 575 832-2400

Thanks so much for the input, I will pass this info on to her.  Are you from Moriarity?  We discovered it while camp hosting at Manzano and often made the drive to visit Schweibach Farms (GREAT fresh produce) and the Bethel Thrift Store (best thrift store I've seen in a while, $.10 paperbacks $.25 hardbacks, mostly in new condition, great selection)

Hi Kate,
I can't recommend an RV service centre but I can recommend Hunter at airstreamingypsy at gmail dot com who is the owner of the Yahoo Airstream list.  She is extremely knowledgable about Airstreams and travels all over.  I'm sure she'd be happy to offer advice.  She might even have an idea about what's wrong.

I know her from rec.outdoors.rv-travel

Kate,

The RV Sales phone number should have been 505 832-2400.
Part of the state changed to area code 575 but they are still in the 505 area.

Bob,
Why don't you add Tom to the ' Maintenance/Installation Facilities ' data base if you haven't already done so.

Thanks.

Barry, Have you had your slide calipers greased?  If so at what mileage levels? Will you be checking in with this group to give us updates on your trip?

Malcom,
No, I have to admit that I have not had the brake calipers greased unless the local Ford dealer or my local mechanic did it while checking the brakes.  I've had the brakes checked twice (one time by each at different times) and they both indicated no problem, so I did not think to ask about greasing the slide calipers despite comments made in the group earlier.
We probably won't be able to report about the trip until we get back in March unless we find an internet cafe or a WiFi spot..  (We leave Jan.7th.)  My Verizon doesn't work even in Mexico, let alone further south.  I've already put both the phone and internet on vacation for the period we will be gone.
