In an MB, can the magazine rack be moved closer to the window to allow room for the new Hunter thermostat? I see where the rack has been replaced by a newer type but seems to be in the same place as old one.
The new thermo is bigger than current one. Funny how one thing leads to another.....

I wondered about that space between the molding and the mag rack.  I measured 3 3/8" if I'm not mistaken.  Are these wider that that?  I still have opportunity to cancel from Amazon.

Joe, it is wider, it is abt 5". So the rack will have to be moved I guess. I didn't know that when I ordered.

Thanks Mari.  I was able to cancel at Amazon.  I owe you.  Now, I need to find one that will fit.

Rob, I saw that message, but can't seem to find the photos of it though I looked at the photo albums. I wonder where to get the Honeywell, do you know?     "starman625"  wrote:

Rob, it looks like it will fit.  On the 2003 MB they moved the thermo over to the left side of the mag rack with 3 3/8" space.  Do you know the actual width of that unit?  All they give is box width.

In my 96 23.5 FL, the magazine rack was in the way of using the Hunter thermostat, I measured before buying one.

I ended up using a Honeywell vertical thermostat instead.
It doesn't have a remote but I didn't need that feature.

Picture of my setup is in the Grey Ghost photo album.

No... sorry Joe... I have a 2000 FL and can see that the "Grey Ghost" solution will work for me... Looking at Andy's photos of "Skylark" it seems it should fit... you may wish to ask the author of "Grey Ghost" for the specifics... Rob.

Hi Joe.

I'm the owner of Grey Ghost.
The Honeywell Thermostat is model # RTH221B. I got it at Home Depot, it was $25.
It measures 3" wide and 4 3/4" tall.

Magazine rack is held by 4 screws and is very easy to move an inch or two to right. This makes plenty of room for hunter thermostat.

"Magazine rack is held by 4 screws and is very easy to move an inch or two to right. This makes plenty of room for hunter thermostat."

Thanks, Don! I'm a little late getting to this discussion, but as I read the posts, all I could think was "Jeez, people--don't be so timid! It's only four little screws we're talking about!"
Take off the plastic caps and loosen the screws, and the magazine rack is easy to move. Come on, be brave--you can do it! ;-)

While you're at it, you might consider tossing the poorly-designed wooden rack altogether, and replacing it with a couple of clear plastic wall pockets, available at any stationery store for about $4 apiece. They hold more than the rack does, and you can see what's in them.
