Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power PD9270C 70-amp charger November 29, 2007, 03:24:16 pm Yahoo Message Number: 86532I need a better battery charger than the one that came with our 2003 LD. Last weekend were dry camped, for five days, under a lot a trees that prevented the solar panels from producing much power. Moving our campsite to a sunny location was not an option. By the time were ready to go home, the Link 10 showed a 230 amp-hour discharge. While this is still acceptable for our oversize battery pack (440 amp-hour with 4- T105s), it took many hours of driving and shore power to bring it back to a full charge. If we had stayed any longer, the battery would have been discharged to an unacceptable level. Our LD has the `improved' 7300 Converter but it still charges at a low level and can take many hours of generator operation to recoup the used amp-hours. It will start out at 45-amps but quickly starts dropping and will be in the low 30-amp range with a half hour. This is clearly not a 3-stage charger. Before bumper jumps in and recommends a Prosine 2000 watt inverter with a 100-amp charger, I must say the $1200 price tag, plus installation, is way out of my price range. Searching the net, I found a Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power PD9270C 70-amp converter that will fit where the existing 7300 now resides. It sell for $208, a much more reasonable price. http://tinyurl.com/2bybeu> The literature indicates that the charger should provide a high rate of charging until the battery reaches 90% of capacity and then starts tapering off. This sound like a true 3-stage charger. Has anyone in this group install one? If so, what is your impression?ThanksLarry

The 9270C you're looking at should even be better since the Charge Wizard is built-in. Maybe Jonna can give a 2 yr. update.Andrew 1999 23.5' TK, SF Bay Area
