How to share Photos with the group
Yahoo Message Number: 86133
Below are instructions on uploading pictures to our LD group website.  I shared them with someone else, and we'd love to see more:

First, this is our website (every Yahoo group has a website):
 http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/lifewithalazydazerv

Go to the website

Sign In-  If you don't sign in, you cannot access the members-only resources.  You sign in by clicking on "Sign In", which is in blue at the tippy top left by the red "Yahoo".  I hope you remember your Yahoo password.  :)

Once you are signed in:

Click on "Photos" on the menu on the left side of the screen.

(Note: when I say "album" or "folder" - they are the same thing.
Albums look like little folders)

If you already have a rig album:

Open your album before you add pictures.  Put the pictures in there.  (Do this by clicking on the folder to open it, then click on "Add a Photo" OR you can just click on "Add a Photo" and upload to existing album using the drop-down menu to find your folder.)

If you do not yet have a rig album:

How to create a rig album:

On the right, upper side of the screen, click on "Create an Album".  To name it, realize that in the future you'll put all your pics in that one album and albums show up in alphabetical order. Now please do NOT create an album for every little photo set because it clutters up the group's photos.  Instead, make one main album (I'd name it your rig's name or your name) and then put folders within that based on your photo topic. You might have 20 different folders within your rig album after a few years.

To move your little Photo folders into one rig album:
If you have, in the past, created many different little folders, you can easily move those into one folder.  Just go to the albums list and create a rig folder first.  Then go to your little albums and click on "Cut".  It will move the little folder to the top of the screen.  Go through and click "cut" on ALL your little folders.  Then go to your main rig folder.  Open it.  Then go to the little folders at the top and click "Paste" on each one of them.  It will move them all, one at a time, into the main folder that you have opened.  Easy!

Adding Photos to an Album: Okay, then "Add Pictures" into that album.  You can add 5 pictures at a time.
Where it says "Browse" beside each photo addition, click on that and it will take you to your computer hard drive.

Find the picture in your photos that you want to include.

Double click on the picture and it will put that photo link in that line on the LD site.  (You can right click on the photo in your hard drive and "Preview" it if you want to see it bigger before you choose it)
If you don't put any photo name in the 2nd line, it will use whatever you titled the photo on your hard drive.
Then you can add comments in the "description" line if you feel like it, but it's not necessary

Once you put in 1 to 5 pictures on that page, then at the bottom, click the blue "Add Now" button.  You must do this or it will not upload.

It may be fast, it may be slow depending on the website and your upload speed.  It could take a few minutes.

Then, add 5 more!

******* Hope that helps,

Tessa in TX '92 MB - Ciao Baby!

I hate to say this, since Tessa's instructions were so good, but it's really better if you share personal photo via Flickr, Snapfish or one of the many other free photo hosting services. This group has a limited amount of storage space provided by Yahoo, and we try to keep it for "how-to" and general information pictures (e.g., photos of new interiors taken at the factory, etc.).
I know we haven't been enforcing that strictly in recent months, but I'd like to encourage people to post personal photos of the "Here's my new rig" or "Here were are on vacation" type on a free photo album service like Flickr, rather than here. Otherwise at some point we'll fill up, and I'll have to go in and and delete a bunch of personal snapshots to make room for the important stuff. :-)

That is a good point, Andy!

From Yahoo:

can upload and store a maximum of 100MB of pictures in  Groups photos section.>>

Okay, forget all that which I posted about uploading photos to our yahoo website (unless you're sharing "how to" or general LD info).

Instead, here's some info on uploading pictures to the free Kodak website:
Hot tip:  There is a free download program called "OfotoNow".  I love it!  I can upload hundreds of pictures with very little effort.

OfotoNow uploads the pictures to Kodak (free photo storage).  Then I "share" the album with myself.  In an incoming email to me is the link to my photos.  I can then copy that link and share it with others.

If you do not have OfotoNow, then you can download it for free from here:

http://snipurl.com/1tyjc>

(the blue "Download Now" at the top IS the link to download it.)

And if you want to read more about OfotoNow, go here:

http://snipurl.com/1tykc>

But what about storing the link to your pictures somewhere so that it can be found later?  Welllll, I've been working on a little surprise for you.  Will share that later...

In the meantime, I'm going to go delete some of my albums on our group Yahoo website where I also have them in a Kodak album. That should help clear up some space - they are past their interest date anyway.  Fortunately, even with all my (excessive) pictures we're only up to 40% on the website right now, but I'll see what that can take it down to- a personal challenge!  :)

Hope that helps, Tessa in TX

Tessa, Thanks so much for your tutelage for "How To Share Photos."  How did you know I've been trying for two months to upload four photos to the "Photo of the Month" album?  So far, just one has made it onto the site, and I'll be darned if I know what I did to get there!  I've tried sending them individually -- no dice.  I've tried sending them all (less than 5) at once -- no dice!  I waited until the next full moon -- no dice!
After choosing the pix (JPEGs from iPhoto), entering the description and clicking on "add now" the page just sits there and sits there and sits there.... and eventually simply disappears!  I ask myself: "Lorna, do you *really* want to try this again?  Do you *really* like banging your head against the wall?  Why me?"!!

You sure do make it seem effortless, and I'd sure like to know your secret.  I'll bet it's really simple, like maybe cocking your head to the right instead of to the left?!!!  Taking your right shoe off? I'm still gong to print out your instructions and, sigh, will try again when feeling particularly courageous!  Thanks for the summaries.
