Ciao Baby- recent work done November 11, 2007, 03:57:54 pm Yahoo Message Number: 85806Hey Friends, I've been visiting Ciao Baby in great anticipation of future trips. I've gotten a stack of Western U.S. books from the library and am dreaming about summer travel! In the meantime, here's some more work I've done that might help others (I personally love hearing about changes/work/updates others do on their LD!):Coach Batteries update: Thanks for all the help with the batteries running down in storage. I got them charged back up by plugging her in and after a few more weeks in storage, they are holding just fine now. I guess the culprit was the water pump being turned on or the inverter that (I suspect) was on. Will determine next trip if we killed the poor water pump.Door Grate on the hot water heater: On the way home from Albuquerque, our metal grate just blew out! I bought another from the Factory ($10) and put it on. However, this time, I bent back the flanges back (on the side of it) to secure it. Any reason not to do this? Just checking.Round orange top running lights: I fixed 4 of them! By myself! I bought them from the Factory ($6.50 each) and climbed up on the roof to easily access. I had to drill out a hole on the new fixtures to feed the wires through (1/2" drill bit size). There is a black plastic piece that slips out of the old fixture into the new one to protect the wires. And the lights work now! I'm so proud.Drawers: Thanks for the tips about lifting up the drawers in the front and tugging on them, then closing the drawer, repeatedly. I got several drawers to come out a LOT more. That is so nice being able to see most of the drawer now when I open it!Overhead storage bins: Big search lead to 10 gallon bins from Wal- Mart that work great in the cab-over. They are short enough to get the lid off and not block all of the side window light, but they're big enough to hold the kids' clothes and stuff. In fact, sleeping bags could fit in there. Since I removed that wooden "box" from the cabover (passenger side- I think it was factory installed), there is room beside the cushion (there's about 11" wide, 5" deep, the length of the bed) to snug the bins down in there. An 18 gallon bin was way too big.An idea! You know, it would be really interesting for someone to design a triangular shaped bin to fit in the crack of the wall under the cabover fake curtains (that I also removed). You really cannot sleep in that space and I wonder how it could be utilized for organizing lightweight items.Table Leg: the $10 factory table leg and bracket arrived. I attached it, but it is not adjustable like the old one was. It hits the wall when it is under the table because the table itself is so short. Larry W, doesn't your table leg angle a little bit to the left? Maybe I should unscrew it and put it on at an angle. (Thanks for the tips to my last email, by the way, Larry!) Plus, the longer leg makes the end of the table a bit too high. Maybe I need to add the extension in the table permanently so the angle is not so great. Also, given the dinette design changes over the years and the increased width of newer rigs, I should probably not be surprised that a new leg doesn't fit exactly on my table. But at least the table is not wobbly any more! Cabinet catch- I screwed the new one on under the dinette and I think it will hold much better during travel. The old one was quite bent up. I'm sure it wasn't my hammering attempts to get it to work better.I'm eagerly awaiting my Ebay win of 8 (EIGHT!) Texas flag bathroom items including shower curtain, shower curtain hooks, towel, etc. Whoo-hooo! Now that will surely be worthy of a picture.Ciao Baby! Tessa '92 MB
