This LDs for sale is below both NADA and a lot below the group's pricing. Looks like a pretty good deal, for someone in the market.

That's because Yahoo cut off part of the URL (you'll notice that not all of it is a clickable link).
Try this one: http://davearbogast.rvusa.com/inventory_item.asp?id=441725 or this one: http://tinyurl.com/yqsyje> .

Hi Marilu,

The reason you're having trouble is because the URL was split acoss two lines.  Many programmes cannot handle URLs that are split like this.  You can fiddle with it but that's kinda painful.  It's better if folks who post long URLs would shorten them and post the abbreviated link.  Try the link below.  It should work for you.

PS: For future reference, go to www.tinyurl.com to "manufacture" a short link.

Hi gang,

Regarding the 2006 30' IB, since this unit has surfaced on the message board again, I thought I would comment. It had interest for me because it was in my home state of Ohio, and they are pretty rare in these parts. While I wasn't in the market to replace my 2003 MB, I *am* frequently seduced by a *deal*.

I should say upfront that to the best of my knowledge, the unit is sold pending a final inpection by an out of state buyer. Frankly, I was surprised it wasn't sold within hours of it hitting the market.
And, if you visit the link to its listing from the previous post, you should note that they raised the asking price around $4,000. I never made it to the dealership that has it, so I can't comment on any details of the rig.

Not too long ago, there was some discussion about the high resale value for Lazy Dazes, NADA values, and perhaps the influence of this group (Barry's table of values). I had long ago suspected that RV dealers, at least for the most part, have no idea about the LD following and market value. Most have never even seen a LD. I know that was true for this dealership.
In their eyes, this was an unusual looking rig that needed to be sold ASAP because the snow would soon be falling as fast as the gas prices were rising. During my phone discussions with them, I was very tempted to put a deposit on it, drive down to see it and then face the dilema do I keep it and sell our 2003 MB, (which we really, really love) or do we just try to make a quick buck and resell the 2006. By late Fri. afternoon, the decison was made for me since they had a deposit.

Bottom line, IMO, this Yahoo group has really influenced the resale value of LDs. For those of you who are shopping for a used rig, if you learn of one for sale at a dealership, make an effort to learn more about it *quickly*. Do your homework and make sure you ask the right questions and inspect it. You just might find a great bargain.

And then there are those unenlightened LD owners. In our travels, I try to me other LD owners whenn possible, and I continue to be surprised by those who have no knowledge of this group. Those folks seem to be the ones who might sell or trade their LD for values more in line with NADA values. I think that was how the RV dealer ended up with the 2006 rig we've been discussing.

Y'know I got a couple of e-mails, about the group influencing prices.
They suggested the group has created its own market. Then I remembered something I learned in 9th Grade, called Group Think. This group would make a good Ph.D. dissertation, on the subject.

From Wikipedia:
Groupthink is a type of thought exhibited by group members who try to minimize conflict and reach consensus without critically testing, analyzing, and evaluating ideas. During Groupthink, members of the group avoid promoting viewpoints outside the comfort zone of consensus thinking. A variety of motives for this may exist such as a desire to avoid being seen as foolish, or a desire to avoid embarrassing or angering other members of the group. Groupthink may cause groups to make hasty, irrational decisions, where individual doubts are set aside, for fear of upsetting the group's balance. The term is frequently used pejoratively, with hindsight.

I bought my first LD 14 years ago, way before the Internet became a power to be reckoned with, and LDs were selling for much more than other like sized Class Cs. Why, the same reason they sell for more today, they held up better and were a better value.
I came to this conclusion without the influence of any group.
I hung out at the big RV show in Pomona and looked at dozens of used RVs over a period of almost a year before buying. My professional background in the mechanical trades, ham radio and marine wiring help train my eye to recognized the difference in the way that different brands of RV were constructed. LDs just stood out from the crowd.
Since I bought used, I was not allowed to attend  LD Caravan campouts so I was cut off from the diehard core of LD owners.
When I found this group, a many years ago,  it was a group of primarily used LD owners who traded tips on maintaining and equipping their LD and discussing travel plans.
Through the wonders of Yahoo and Google, more people  found this group and learned about LDs.
My feeling is that the value of LDs caused this group to come together and the quality of the build is what causes it to stay together.
If the value  has increased because of this group, then it may be the result of more individuals recognizing the value of new and used LDs.
Maybe we have inadvertently decreased the cost of other brands of used RV. I'm going to have to think about this.

Since you continue to question the value of LDs, maybe you could better spend you time perusing or persecuting another brand of RV.
It's not that we are not open minded, it's just tiresome to be continuously grilled.

*sigh*  Tiresome is accurate, Larry.
I would respectfully suggest that we "groupthinkers" avoid responding to this post since we will only "reach consensus without critically testing, analyzing, and evaluating ideas".
Probably a hundred recent posts have been written on the subject of resale pricing.  Anyone REALLY interested in this subject can read the threads starting with msg# 85241, 84512, 85373 & 84568.  Be warned, however, that most of the posts are simply examples of Group Think.

BTW, a reminder for all the members of the LDPF (Lazy Daze Price Fixing) group that our final meeting this year is on the 5th Tuesday next month at the usual place.  We need to set the prices for 2008.

At the risk of sounding egotistical, I would hazard a guess that my master's degree in the social sciences (Anthropology) makes me a somewhat better judge of such things than your 9th grade social studies class.

While it is likely that humans have both biological and social drives to enhance their sense of belonging to social groups, due to a significant adaptive advantage that group membership conveys (hence, for example, the ease with which social friendships often precede religious conversions), I find the Wiki explanation above unneccessarily alarmist. A group which encourages hasty, irrational decisions, or the members thereof, is not likely to survive long- term. An internet forum, especially.
