Review of our 2000 26.5 Midbath
Yahoo Message Number: 478
We just returned from our first long trip to Lake Almanor in Northern CA...about 1600 mile roundtrip. We went up and back on Hwy 395, pulling our '89 Chaparral 1900SX 20', 3500lb boat.
The rig handled like a dream (Bilstein shocks added during production), with no sway in heavy winds-crosswinds and headwinds.
Towing the boat was like it wasn't even there(tandem axle trailer tracks really well)! Gas mileage hovered around 9 mpg...several long, steep grades up 395.
Without posting too many words here...my response to this rig is...WOW. Everything worked flawlessly. The V10 powertrain and E450 Super Duty chassis is very nice with plenty of extra power when needed...even when towing the extra 3500-4000 lbs...but cruising at 60-65 is still the best way to enjoy the ride.
We had lots of people ask about the coach and saw 4 or 5 LDs (many were 26.5 Rear Bath) going north on 395 as we went south on Sunday, July 16...were any one of those any of you? We did the "Lazy Daze blink-of-the-lights and wave"...but nobody had their CB on.
I'll post a few photos soon when I find the time to capture some off of the video we took.

Rob ...on to Lake Powell August 14-25.
