Re: selling your used RV Reply #3 – May 08, 2006, 09:24:53 pm Yahoo Message Number: 66494This is what I did when I sold last December. 1) The buyer and I went to the local branch of his bsnk, and I watched the teller verify the funds in his account and cut the Cashier's Check. 2) We went to my bank, where he handed me the Cashier's Check, and I deposited it... asking the teller at my bank to verify the check. 3) When that cleared, I handed the Title to the buyer.Seemed safe all around.David

Can someone tell me what is the best way to collect money for your RV that you just sold, before you sign over the title. Thanks We are going to be selling our 99' MB soon and I wondered how we would handle the funds. We still owe a small balance on the RV to our credit union that holds the title. The way I like the best suggested is the buyer wiring the money from his account into ours at the credit union. We have rental properties and many landlords we know are not taking Cashier Checks anymore because there has been a great deal of fraud with them the past few years.

The cashiers check still seems the safest method to me for both partys. And the seller can always call the bank and make sure it isn't a forgery. All said and done there has to be some trust somewhere in these kind of deals. Not sure there is a perfect solution.Garry

I wondered why 20's? That was me. The purchaser of our old VW camper gave us $5000 in $20 bills, which I took to the bank in a box. I have no idea of why he only gave us $20s, but I had a thought that the cash may have come from some illicit enterprise and that larger bills were more traceable.Sonsie
selling your used RV Reply #10 – May 09, 2006, 12:17:02 am Yahoo Message Number: 66504I believe the best way is to have the buyer arrange with his/her bank in advance to prepare a cash transfer to the seller's bank. The, if the RV meets expectations, the buyer contacts his/her bank and has the money transferred. The seller signs over the title only after the money has been deposited to his/her account. That is the safest way to do it. I believe.Allen

It is a 23.5 Lazy Daze front dinette in really good condtion with low mileage. A RV dealership offered us $25,000 to take it on consignment. This seems exceptionally low compared to the asking prices I saw posted on our site.Anyone have some input on this? Thanks

Re: [Life With A Lazy Daze RV] selling our Rv Reply #16 – May 13, 2006, 09:55:23 pm Yahoo Message Number: 66711I have it in the selling file on this group site. It has a generator with 30 hours on it, 13,200 miles on it. Year 2002 23.5 front dinette. It is in very good condition because my dad (who passed away last year) only made two trips in it on good paved roads. He travelled alone, nonsmoking, no kids, no pets. I was advertising for $45,000 cause that is what I got off suggested price file for that year and condition. I'm certainly willing to negotiate. The RV is in Vallejo, California, but we live in Kodiak, Alaska. Thanks for all your help, you seem like a nice bunch of people. Re: [Life With A Lazy Daze RV] selling our Rv Reply #18 – May 13, 2006, 11:39:33 pm Yahoo Message Number: 66714I would not even consider selling my '98 23.5 T/K for $25000. Most dealers don't have a clue about what a Lazy Daze is. Heck, I'll pay that much for it sight unseen!Allen
Re: selling our Rv Reply #19 – May 14, 2006, 12:03:26 am Yahoo Message Number: 66717I just looked, and NADA does list a 2002 23.5 Lazy Daze as having a wholesale value of about $25,000. However, they base those prices on standard depreciation rates for all RVs. Clearly, most other brands of RV have lost much of their value in four years. Not so a LD. I really think your asking price is not out of line. I realize you may have to back off a little, but $25,000 is rediculous.Allen
