generator brace May 12, 2006, 10:08:55 pm Yahoo Message Number: 66679Twice on our 2001 RB with the Emerald generator, the exhaust has torn off the generator muffler. Neither time could we establish a time and place that it happened and after this last time we are pretty sure that it was not hit but that rough roads just bounced it until it tore. The first time we had it replaced at an Onan shop but this time we just bought the part at the Escapade and Mimi installed it. She was under the rig for awhile fighting with getting the old one off and the new one on, there was a little cursing going on too and the dogs both crawled under there with her to lend moral support. She added another brace this time and we're hoping it will add enough to the support that this one will last a little longer. An aside, if you think your generator is loud now you should have heard ours without a muffler! The only time we could exercise it after it ripped again this winter was when we were driving down the road, it was too loud everywhere else. She only got one picture for me and I wasn't up to crawling under there for more. Basically, where the exhaust attaches to the muffler the metal tore and the exhaust would be hanging. The strap on the right in this picture is the standard brace put in by LD, the one on the left is the one Mimi added. http://www.baddog.com/images/genbrace.jpg -- Jonna in Tortuga, 2001 Teal RB Find us MAPhttp://map.datastormusers.com/user2.cfm?user=1013> Follow the BLOG herehttp://www.baddog.com/blog/blog.html>[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
