Time for a toad

After resisting for four years, it is time for a toad!  We are in the market for a two to five year old vehicle set up as a toad. (Older if low mileage and clean.)  We must be able to install a canoe/kayak rack on it, so convertables are pretty well out.  We currently have a rack on our Infiniti G20, but we cannot find a base plate for it.  Anyone have a toad they would like to sell?

We 'resisted' for years, primarily because our 83 LD's 350 engine was not up to the task of negotiating the mountain grades of the West.
We love having the toad. We did not know realize how much we were missing by having only the LD to explore with.

If you plan on carrying canoes and/or kayaks, I would recommend a vehicle with a long roofline to provide better support of the boats.
The front and rear crossbars should be as far apart as possible.
You should find a vehicle that can be towed without damaging the driveline.
Two good choices are the Honda CRV and the Jeep Cherokee 4X4. There are plenty of them in the used car market and both have baseplates available.
