Composition of side door

We would like to put a handle on the door to prevent the wind from wrenching it out of our hands. Does anyone know if wood screws would be ok. The handle is a drawer type with 2 screws. I think the best place for it would be above the black plate for the latch. I checked the archives and found nothing. Thanks for the help.

Hi Cindy
I did the same thing fairly recently. I was able to get a nice white plastic grab handle from a local RV parts store and mounted it with two wood screws vertically right at the edge of the open sliding screen door cover. That seemed to put it in a natural "grab" position and was the closest that I could mount it and reach it easily from inside. So far its been fine, and if it ever does loosen up I'll probably just epoxy it in place. It makes a really welcome and handy edition, because you can now grab it and close it without going outside at all.
