Messages Not Updating?

May 4th is the last post I see; It's May 6th in the morning. I can't believe no one hasn't posted in two days. Is the server down for the group? Thanks this is just a test.

I see a few new posts this morning, but I posted a response to Will's vibrating seat message early yesterday, and it still hasn't appeared, a full day later. ???

Hi Joan

You think that's bad. I thought I had been thrown off the forum for some of my uncomplimentary remarks.......

Will 2004 23.5 TK Vibrating no more than usual
PS I did find that if you email the individual off-forum, it will get through.

Folks, I wish I had something informative to say, but  I don't. I monitor the messages on this website several times a day, and I've seen new messages every time I've logged on in the past few days. This isn't to say that there haven't been problems recently--I suspect there have.
I've had several complaints that no email digest had arrived lately, and there are the reports of missing posts. I have no way of tracking what was sent to Yahoo but not received, of course--Yahoo gives us very few tools. I guess about all I can say is that Yahoo does glitch sometimes, as we all know...but the problems are usually fixed with in a few days at most.

Something I meant to add: if any of you are AOL users, you should be aware that AOL seems to have recently made some changes to their spam-filtering rules that are causing a lot of grief for members of many discussion lists, both on and off Yahoo. I've said my piece on AOL before (as a former AOL staffer, I know them all too well), so I'll be brief and blunt here: AOL is the very nearly world's worst internet service provider. Ditching them and getting a reliable ISP like EarthLink will make your life a lot less frustrating. 'Nuff said!

From Yahoo as to why we're not receiving mail....
Hi Folks, Should have posted this earlier, but I wanted to let everyone know That we are aware of the delays in email delivery that are affecting Many groups right now. The problem is not related to any of the Database and hardware work we were doing earlier in the year.
Rather, the primary cause is the "My Wife virus (http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_138027.htm ), which has caused a Huge spike in the number of emails sent to Yahoo! Groups. This spike Has gone beyond the capacity of our current systems to handle, which Is causing the delays in email delivery. We have already taken two steps to address the issue, which has Begun to reduce the number of delays: - We are dropping (I.e. Not delivering) all outgoing email that Includes the virus (in other words, we are not sending infected Messages to groups).- We have added additional server capacity And we are planning to increase that capacity even more. However, Until the virus has fully played itself out or more ISPs have taken Steps to reduce the amount of email they are sending to us (by Dropping messages that contain the virus rather than forcing us to Do it), there may continue to be some delays. Our apologies for any inconvenience.- GordonYahoo! Groups Team

AOH*ll his not an internet service provider.  They are a value added, content provider.  They are a business that has a (.com) site on the internet, rather than being a part of the internet.
They have a proprietary (pronounced predatory) business model in that when they install their software on a system, they use a proprietary TCP/IP stack.  For some reason this very often destroys the MS TCP/IP stack that is native to Windows.  As a WorldNet tech, we always knew when AOH*ll was running specials (or Netzero).  We'd be slammed w/ calls to fix the problem.  We had to walk people thru the procedure of uninstalling & reinstalling their communications ability.  Not a big deal.... as long as the people had the original Windows install disks.
The 'restore' disk would 'restore' their computer to the configuration that it had when they bought it.  That is to say.... without any of their personal documents & s/w.  It wanted to flattened their hard rive.... not a good thing & we'd keep them away from it.  ALWAYS get the S/W install disks w/ you computer!!!!  it costs $10 more to get Windows install disks w/ a new computer... well worth it!  The cab files do have the needed stack, but they go bad w/ age.
I'll get off my soap box now.
I agree that AOH*ll is a horrible dis-service!!!!!

---- My response (posted early yesterday) to the vibrating seat post has not appeared on the board.  According to the information from "Gordon" of YahooGroups, non-appearing messages are infected with the "mywife" virus, and Yahoo! won't post an infected message.  I find this pretty hard to believe, since my other messages went through, and my anti- virus (AVG) is continually updated. Repeated scans show no "viral infections" (or any quarantined ones, either) to any files or programs on my computer. I would be much more inclined to believe that any posting problems are just Yahoo's brand of business as usual rather than the results of any "virus".
