Compartment Latches, possible check item
Yahoo Message Number: 64596
On our 2001, the compartment latches consist of locks with a locking locking arm which rotates with the lock screwed on.  Twice now the screw holding the locking arm on one of the compartments has become loose enough that the lock would rotate but gravity/friction would hold the locking arm in the locking position.

I was able to get the compartments open both times by using a bent wire slipped into the door crack to move the locking arm.  The 1st time, I tightened all the screws on the back of the locks, but apparently that was not enough.  When I get home, I will replace all of the lock washers and add some "Pro Lok Removable Thread Lock" to the nuts.

I thought I should mention this as others may want to check the tightness of the screws on their compartment locks.
