Howard - I was a 2nd owner for a bunch of years, and lived in Seattle, WA until I retired and hit the road, full-time, by myself. I joined the NW group, and the Northern California group a long time ago. I also know that they welcome all LDers - members or not, and I know I would be welcome at any of the other groups. That's just what all this is about.

AND. Like Kate wrote awhile ago, posting where you are or where you're heading on this list frequently creates a 'howdy' stop at the local coffee shop, or a bigger, albeit, spontaneous GTG.
Several weeks ago, Pete and I were heading toward Patagonia, AZ, and mentioned it on the group. Kate joined up - Bill Haas, who lives in the area, picked a spot for us, Lorna came along, Al and Anna K were there - Tom and his wife from Nevada - several other LDers - I think that over the course of a couple of weeks, there were probably 14 rigs there at one time or another. We just boondocked on some NF land, had absolutely NO activities planned. We just had a good time.
Cats - dogs - biking - hiking - happy hour - eating together - not eating together - fixing boo-boos on rigs - (one of us) cussing Directway (me) - Things like this happen, and I love it.
You can bet the farm that if you and/or someone else in the SW starts some GTGs, that you'll have people like me dropping by when we're in the area. Just another great opportunity.

Happy trails!! Sarah Albuquerque - I think I'll see who else is around this weekend = = =

Ramo5554 (name?), I don't believe ANYONE mentioned excluding anyone (except for Howard...he said if he were to start a group, first owners wouldn't be welcome to join).  The regional Lazy Daze groups are open to everyone and everyone.

Here's another that agrees.  I'm a 3rd owner of a LD and very doubtful I will ever buy a new one.  I'm retiring soon and would like to see a non-discriminatory club. I'm a south california

Gerald, none of the regional Lazy Daze clubs discriminate.  You are welcome to join any of them you want.

Ed,
I like what you have done.  I had thought I might follow some of your concepts.  A very loose collection of LD'ers in Suthern California, Arizona and Nevada.
I own a 1977, 22 foot, rear bath model.  It is in excellent condition.  However, I think my concerns may be different than someone who just picked up their LD at the factory.
I am very confused by all the responses that suggest everyone be included.  If there are so many LD owners in my geographic aera, that 2nd, 3rd, etc, owners be excluded from the Caravan Club, then I'm afraid any attempt to start a SouthWest group would be swamped by the sheer numbers of owners in my aera.  If the new group started with owners of older LD's, our concerns would be more focused.
I thought Lazy Campers, or Lazy SW Campers might be a good name for the proposed group.

Linda,
Thank you for your comments.  Perhaps you misunderstood why I feel a new Southwest group should be for 2nd owners, etc.  If there are so many LD owners in the Southwest that 2nd owners are excluded from Caravan Club, then I was afraid that the sheer numbers would swamp the group before it started.
There has been so much negative response to my origional idea, I have droped it.

Hey, Howard, don't run away mad!  (-:  You got your wish; see Jane's pasted in message below in which she personally invites you to join.  The beginnings of a SW club are there.  No one was being negative.  It simply seemed like you didn't understand the reasons behind the Caravan Club's "original owner requirement".  I assume you understand now.  I hope you enjoy the camaderie of the new SW group.  These are fine, friendly folks who love to share "The Lazy Daze Way".  Hmmmm...now that could be the title of a new book or a new religion.

"Thanks to Ed, Art, and all of you who have offered great suggestions and your help in getting a SW group together.  We have ideas, names, mottos, volunteers, "how to" advice and existing SW planners and participants (Benson and the "Balloon Festival").  What more could we want?  All we need to do is round up some of the LD owners who are not part of this online forum, find a few places to get together in addition to the existing get togethers, and have some fun.  Howard, I hope you will join us.  Would love to see your rig.  I have the feeling that the numbers that exist in CA might not be true of the Southwest.  But if there are many, many LD folks then "Whoopee".
Morepeople, more fun.  Where there's a will there's a way.  Jane"
