My Aunt from New Orleans is OK
Yahoo Message Number: 58713
Sorry I haven't been back in here for a while. It's always difficult for me to get online when I'm on the road and when I do, I usually have just enough time to answer the email. I realized I had not posted in here that my Aunt June, who lives in New Orleans, was found alive and well. She got out with her two dogs and is now in a private home not far from Lafayette, LA. She had some very close calls and she's writing down all the details for our family history (what I already have of her story sounds like it would make a great TV special). But she's safe and well and I am very relieved.
All of the rest of my extended family escaped but all of them lost everything they owned.
We're hoping to be able to go back down to New Orleans at some point to help my aunt with her house - if and when she decides to do so. She's 84 and I'm not sure if she even desires to try to salvage the house she's been in for over 45 years. I won't drive 'Red Zoe' down there right now because of the danger of her being stolen and the difficulty of getting gas. Also for reasons of our own personal health, as well as my aunt's, it's still too soon to go back.
I want to thank all of you who emailed me and sent your concern and prayers. I miss being in here on a regular basis and as soon as I can swing it financially, I swear I'm getting a satellite dish of my own. This trying to find an internet cafe is a pain in the you-know- what. But I can't complain. Heck I got a telescope and a Jeep in the past 6 months. I have to learn to be patient right?
