XM Radio Antennae advice

Well I've searched the archive and can't find much discussion about placement of the antennae for the radio so that it does lose the signal frequently.  We use the radio in our home as well as on the road.  We have the permanent antennae at home and the smaller portable antennae for the LD.  We must be placing it in poor locations.  Where do folks place the antennae for XM radio?

Also if I can ask another electronic question regarding our DVR for our Dish network.. we are unable to locate the satellite address using the DVR.  Three trips...no connection located.  My brother has the basic receiver and we were able to dial up the satellite in our driveway when we first considered ordering the Dish network.  How does this work for everyone else who uses the Dish Network.  My husband believes the problem is related to the fact that the factory-installed Winegard dish antennae has only a single receiver and the Dish Network home system has duel receivers. He believes we need to switch to basic receiver and not use the recording set up.

Your help is appreciated!

I have two (both on the roof), because I have separate sound systems and XM SkyFi cradles in the cab and in the rear lounge area. The front antenna is a few inches from the overcab escape hatch, which is how I brought its cable inside. The rear one is nine inches inboard from the left side, just above the stove vent, which is how I brought that cable in. I seldom have reception problems unless parked under very dense foliage.

Andy,
Just wondering how you mounted the XM antennae (is that how one makes antenna plural?) to the roof?
As per the Technoz list, I have my antenna sitting on the screen below the front roof vent.  Works great, but might be interested in mounting more permanently.
BTW, want to say to any of the Technoz folks on this list, thanks for the wonderful info on your list.

Yup, your Latin is good--that's how you make a feminine noun plural. :-) To answer your question, I mounted them with Goop. Any good contact cement ought to work.
