Really dumb battery question

Obviously my memory is fading.  If I want to keep my house batteries charged by plugging in to 110 I need to have the converter box on, right? (Sorry about this!)  SC

Soncee,
I'm not sure what you mean by "having the converter box on". The house batteries are charged by the truck batteries (when the engine is running), the solar panel(s) if you have them (no action required by the RV owner) and the converter battery charger when you are hooked up to 110v AC power (again, no action required by the RV owner).
Perhaps I missed something that an more expert member will jump in on.

The converter will "convert" 115 vac  to 12 vdc to charge the house battery, unless the user has turned off the 115vac circuit breaker for the converter.  We sometimes do this to (1) avoid overcharging by our older style converter if we're connected to shore power for several days or (2) to reduce the humming noise at night (aga

Sorry I didn't explain very well.  I flip the circuit breaker at night to avoid humming, which is what I mean by off versus on.  LD is parked and I noticed house batteries are getting low.  I can plug in to shore power but obviously circuit breaker for converter needs to be "on".

We are leaving on a cruise and my brain circuit was obviously "off" because of overload.  Said it was a dumb ?.  Thanx for replying.  SC
