Hello all,

Thanks for answers to my last questions.

I live in Alabama and know I'm going to have to be patient to find a LD.

What do you think about a buyer's service? Found one on the internet - it's a $600 flat fee and they locate the specific RV you request. They claim to "beat any price" etc.... If anyone has the time or the inclination, please check them out at http://www.rvexperts.com

Going that route would save some time. Otherwise, I would need to contact all the regional dealers personally and follow-up regularly.

(Note: not affiliated with these folks - just stumbled upon them this AM)

Also, is there a particularly good time to buy an RV? The salespeople always say, "Yes. Now!" But it seems logical that the winter months would see lower prices.

Eager to hear your opinions!

Thanks,

Kim

I prefer to buy these types of things (RVs, boats) in "the off-season". When I buy in the off-season, I have the time to "dial-in" the item to my needs...especially if it is a used item. You may need to do some repairs and get to know it, etc.
If you buy "in-season" (usually spring, summer, fall), you have a tendency to pay more and be less patient to find the right item and deal. Too many people by a piece of junk because they wanted it for a trip in two weeks.
I have bought a used '85 LD(before this new one) and a used '89 Chaparral 1900SX boat. We still love the boat. Even though both were nearly ten years old when we bought them...they were good quality when new, and in great shape because the owners took great care of them. They also didn't get used very much...RV had 32,000 miles, the boat had 95 hours. But you have to be patient to find deals like these...look at many items and be ready to buy when you see it.

Just my 2 cents...

Kim,

Not familiar with using a finders service. However, using that six hundred dollars, you could also fly almost anywhere, should you locate that perfect used LD.

Here are sites I often check, just to keep pace with prices of used LD units.
Thought they might be helpful to you ...
