Price change on 2006 model/The Factory
Yahoo Message Number: 57468
Replying to questions about price change and what to expect at the factory:
Ed Newton said Ford had changed nothing but the shape of an outside insignia.
But he said the cost of aluminum had gone up 12 of 13%.
Everything in CA seems to be on an inflationary uptick. It is an expensive state to do business in.
I have not toured the factory but my husband has. Don't expect fancy tours--- tourists behind a glass wall looking at Santa's rig factory. It is very informal and down home---lots of hoses and lines running on the ground. A man spray-painting rigs outside, just behind the  display of several RV models.
One of the first Class C's that they made is right there behind the new models.
Considering what LD offers as part of their package---generator, awning, dual pane windows, etc----LD is still a value compared to inferior brands that charge extra for generators (4K?) and awning (2K?) and such.
Current time of delivery for late August orders is December "sometime".

Ed Newton invented the Class C and invented all the floor plans---a lively man and still on duty showing the model rigs and joking with customers. Is in his 80's. My husband was almost as entranced by the history of Ed Newton and the Class C as he was by the prospect of our getting our own LD. I don't know if other countries have Class C's or if it is an American thing. It is a highly functional invention and I wish Ed got wider recognition for his life's work.
Thank you again to those who told me about the tran fluid and the Honda CR-V.
