Some questions before pick-up on Sep 20th...

Yep,
September 20, 2005 is the day we pick up "The Nudge" (Name still not offical). Before we head to Camping world this weekend, here's a few hardware questions that maybe somebody with experience can help with...

1) Is the 1/2 GPM flow rate of the Nature Pure water purification  system sufficient?
2) Does anybody have the portable or hardwired Surge Guard and why  did you choose one over the other?
3) Which Olympian Wave Catalytic Heater will work best in a 26.5 RK,
the model 6, the model 8, or should we go with two model 3's?

All insight is appreciated.

Jay
As much as we enjoy our adventures the dogs enjoy it more. That's why the name on Horatio's dedication plaque reads "For the Boys" past and present: Rommel, Patton, Teddy, Tudor and Arthur.

Jay,
The Nature Pure water filter system is fine for drinking water, making coffee, cooking, etc.  You wouldn't want to wash your car with it though...
:-)
We chose the portable Surge Guard for simplicity.  No new wiring on the LD.
'Never had a problem.  Just don't drive away and accidentally leave it...
We chose the model 6 catalytic heater before our Alaskan trip.  'Spent about $250 additional to have it all plumbed in with a flexible hose and quick disconnect.  Only used it once on the trip and it put out so much heat we only had it on for a short time.  If I had to do it again I'd forget having one unless you plan to do a lot of cold weather camping without hook ups.
Even then I'd get one small one -- probably one that worked from portable canisters.  That way you can put it in the bathroom prior to taking a shower and warming it up.  We used a little electric heater for that, but we were hooked up to A/C most of the time.  When dry camping we just used the furnace which puts out a lot of heat but is noisy and uses a fair amount of electrical current from the coach batteries.

Good luck,

Is the 1/2 GPM flow rate of the Nature Pure water purification system sufficient? Jay

Jay,  We find that the 1/2 GPM flow rate of our Nature Pure water purification system is completely adequate.  All of the water we use for drinking and for cooking comes through the Nature Pure Filter.
We use the filtered water for making coffee and it takes less than a minute to fill the reservoir of our coffee maker.  It removes all of the taste from the water and in some places that taste would otherwise come through to adversely affect the flavor of the coffee.
We are highly satisfied with the system.
Installation is not difficult for most people but I had a Technician named "Hugo" at the La Mirada Camping World install mine.  Hugo had been recommended to me by another member of this forum.  I am pleased to recommend him to you if you decide to have the job done.
The La Mirada Camping World is near the "Pete's Road Service" facility in Fullerton if you are looking for a place to have the extra long metal valve stems done as well.

Best wishes on your pick up.
