Is Anyone else offended by the Golden Rallye Rules?

Just went over the registration packet for the Golden Caravan.  It sounds like we're being asked to turn ourselves in to a concentration camnp!

We're seriously thinking of missing this one. A shame, too.

Your message prompted me to re-read the packet and I didn't find anything objectionable (and I'm usually pretty sensitive about silly rules, too many rules, etc)  What specifically did you find objectionable.

 Bob, I just re-read the registration packet and didn't find any "rule" objectionable, unreasonable, or out of line with the standards for any other *big* event. Can you be specific as to which "rules" you feel are inappropriate and/or repressive?

All and sundry...

It appears what the ruckus is all about is the "liability disclaimer" which is found on the back of the application form. The Caravan Club and the officials at Cheyenne apparently want everyone to sign away their rights with the signature of 'everyone' attending the Golden Caravan.

I personally do not find this offensive. Looks like they are just covering their behinds.

But... if you wish to opt out of the first and only NATIONAL rally LD has ever had I guess that's also your choice. It's a free country despite how it sounds.

Being a volunteer group they probably don't want (or have the ability due to cost) to secure a large amount of liability insurance.  I don't blame them either.  They are afraid, as I would be, that some LD'er attending the rally will slip in the shower (inside their own LD) and sue for a gazzilion dollars.

And as all of us know, there will be more than a few ambulance chasers read to file a lawsuit on their behalf.  It's just the way we live in in this country today.  No one wants to take responsibility for their actions.

I'm not crazy about the disclaimer either (in case of a legitimate problem) but I will sign it so as not to miss the opportunity of a lifetime.

PS - Does anyone know if Ed Newton and/or Steve will be there?

We're working on it! Steve is a very busy man and getting away from his duties could be a problem. Hopefully, someone from the "mothership" will attend. It's work in progress.

No, If you filled out the survey you should have gotten your packet by now. Ours was postmarked 8/16. We already have our confirmation number. I would give them a call.

Linda, I will have lots of packets at the Ladeze outing....also, is it possible mail forwarding may have interrupted the USPS usual quick relay of snail mail?  Or is that why they call it snail mail?!!!

 Thanks, Chris.  I was wondering if that was the case.  We have our mail sent out to us once a week, but depending on when stuff is received in Sioux Falls, it can take up to two weeks before we get something.
