Another LD in MN, and ??
Yahoo Message Number: 56109
Hi Gang,

Just wanted to let you all know I'm moving to the Twin Cities area later this week, so there will be one more LD in MN.  Wife will be attending law school in St Paul in the fall, so off we go.  Wife and kids are actually already there since June living with relatives near Fargo.
Anyway, on to my questions.  Does anyone know of a campground/rv park near Minneapolis (preferrebly the northern area) that has electric hook-ups?  Normally the location wouldn't matter so much, but as luck would have it, my car was totaled 2 weeks ago.  So the LD will be my commuter car until I find a new used car.  I'll be working in north Minneapolis.
My next question, relates to finding temp housing (~1-2 months) until our CO home sells and we can buy something.  If you know of any resources for finding such places, I would really appreciate it.
I will close this with regreting not meeting all the CO LD people.  I will truly miss camping in the rockies.

Thanks for listening,

-Victor

Hi Victor, glad to see you joined the midwestern group.  Hope you like the twin cities.  I used to live in St. Paul.  Anyways my sister lives in Rochester, if you dont get an answer  from anyone in the twin cities area I can ask her about housing and maybe she could help you.
Lets see what kind of answers you get and good luck in school and new job.

Victor, I went to law school in the twin cities 25 years ago.  What school is she going to?  She might work through the school to find temporary housing.
I live in northern Minnesota, but am not too familiar with campgrounds near north Minneapolis.  You might try Ham Lake campbground.  763-434 5337 and the Minneapolis KOA 763 420 2255.  Both have hookups.

Mary,

Thanks for the warm welcome.  Eventually we plan on buying a house in/near Burnsville (south of the TC).  I've visted the a few times, and I like the area.  I'm sure I'll do fine, as long as I get a nice snowblower and a place to park my LD. :-)

Anne,
Yes, all four of my dogs will be joining me and one is due to whelp in mid August.  D'oh!  There is a long story behind that.  Thankfully it's just me and not the rest of my family, we would not all fit in the LD.

Martha,

She is going to William Mitchell. I'll tell her to check with the school.  Thanks for the suggestions.  I will look into them.

Victor,

Congratulations on moving to Minnesota where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking and all the children are above average.  I hope your move is relatively trouble free, although it does not sound that it has started out that way.  I live in the northern suburbs and a very nice county campground with electric hookups is at: http://www.anokacountyparks.com/qlinks/Parks/RiceCreek/ricecreek.htm

The drawback is that you can only a stay a week, but it would give you a chance to check out temporary housing or you could move to another county campground.  This campground is near to 35W which would take you right into Minneapolis.  You might want to use Google Earth and take a virtual tour of the area.  There is a Costco about 10-15 miles away as well as other stores closer in.  Although you may want to visit Costco for the cheaper gas, it sounds like you'll need it.  There is a park and ride lot near Costco, so you may want to park your LD there and just take a bus to Minneapolis.
If it is any consolation, for the past few winters, I have not really needed to use my snowblower very often.

Welcome!
