Heavier-than-usual (!) rains in CA, AZ, and other areas of the southwest have brought one of the best wildflower seasons in several years; the flowers should be out earlier than usual, and the displays will be spectacular in many places!

Thanks for the website, Jown!

The campground at AGua Caliente near Anza Borrego is a great place to base camp while flower watching. It has hookups, and a naturally heated mineral spa that is as large as a regular swimming pool. The only down side of this park is that pets are not allowed because of the fragile surrounding habitat. Other than that, it is a fabulous spot!

Starting the first of March, check the Theodore Payne Foundation's Wild Flower Hotline. It covers Southern and Central California and is updated each Thursday, during the season.
