Recommendation of San Diego Park

We just got back from a wonderful trip in our LD, she just purred the whole way. We found a park that was special and thought I would share. It is Lake Jennings Park in Lakeside- some 10 miles away from San Diego (right off of the Freeway 8). The sites are the largest and most private ones we have stayed at- they are above the lake on a ridge that has a "View" of the valley or hills. The park is managed by San Diego City and was clean.
Not surprisingly it was full for this time of the year and glad we had made reservations, the costs were $20 per night. Full hook ups and a had nice showers. It was nice to get back to the peace and quiet of the park after the days of being around all the people in San Diego.

If you don't mind another recommendation on San Diego parks, here goes. Just about half an hour further from Lake Jennings is a wonderful National Park in the Laguna Mountains. It is true alpine forest and set amid beautiful pine trees along the edge of a gorgeous meadow. You can see deer and other wildlife and there are some wonderful hiking and biking paths that meander past some small lakes. It is dry camping, but there are showers and bathrooms. It is one of our family's favorite spots! You take Highway 8 (that you used to get to Lake Jennings) until you get to the Sunrise Hwy. Turn North (left) and go about 11 miles (I think). Go throught the little community of Laguna MTN. Look for the Laguna/El Prado sign and turn left. It's very easy to find and very worth the extra drive! Regards, The Shook Family
