Any chance to get a 30' with a cab over bed?
Yahoo Message Number: 50249
Hubby is flying to Ontario, CA   on the 15th for business and is going to try to set up a LD tour while he is there.

I want a new 30', but the main purpose of getting a Class C is for our son who has a form of autism.  He has fallen in love with the bed over cab and front window.  He said it makes him feel like he is flying.  I am not the kind to "make up beds", so I want the bed over cab and island bed in the back for the convenience of not having to "make up beds" and "take down beds" every morning.

We want a 30' for the room, but LD does not make a 30' without the entertainment center up front.  Any chance that this will change?

Thanks!

Riding in a cab-over bed with those big front windows would be cool! But unfortuantely, he'll be disappointed with the fake front windows on the LD. I still think the cab-over is a nice feature, but flying it ain't (g).

1.  This question has been asked alot over the years, and the  answere has always been NO.  I believe it has something to do with  weight over the front end.

2.  I do think that if this issue was worked out more 30' models  would be sold--One of the main reason for a class C is the sleeping  room.

3.  Having owned a class C for 15 years with the cabover.  Allowing  children to ride up there while underway is just plain dangerous.
My kids ALWAYS wanted to but this is one of the few things I stuck  to. ( Iam 52 and I would like to ride up there).

4.  I hope LD works this out or is looking at the C5500 Kodiak with
the duramax--No slides Just the best High Quality Class C on that chassis.

Good Luck and Happy RVing

Mike

I don't believe they can change it as this would subtract 308 pounds from their ccc of 757 pounds possibly making the 30 LD too heavy.

Ok, now I am officially confused.  I assumed the cab over bed would use the same space that is currently used by the Entertainment Center. (TV, DVD, etc)  How can a mattress weight more than an entertainment center?  Where does an extra 308 pounds come from??

Yes, my precious would be allowed to ride up

I am also interested in the Kodiak 5500.  I am not familiar with that name.  Is that a chassis or a coach?

Thanks y'all!

Linda,
I don't understand the weight difference, i would think that the cab over bed (Crows Nest) would be lighter than  an entertainment center. Some Help here  LDer's?

The Kodiak Cassis is from Chevy and is a MDT ( Medium Duty Truck) chassis. It is being used on several other class C's.  and it offers a diesel. Because LD builds such a great coach I would like to see them use the chevy chassis. Like I stated before no slides just a well built motorhome that will last---what a concept

the 308 pounds comes from two additional sleeping places in the overhead, if allowed.  This means the 30' LD could accomodate 6 people instead of 4 as designed.  Of course, you only know your exact weight when you have your LD weighted when fully loaded.

Mac,  Of course it is,  I would like LD to use the new chassis.
Because of the increased CCC, diesel option and towing.

Sorry for the poor post

Hubby is ... going to try to set up a LD tour while he is there.

No need to set up an appointment -- just go.  He can take as much time as he wants looking at all the models on the floor.  When we were at the factory in January 2004, they didn't have any 30' models on the showroom floor...perhaps that has changed.

As was stated previously, the *windows* in the Lazy Daze aren't -- at least in the newer models.  I think older models did have actual windows, but I don't know what year that was changed.  And, in the 30', this would be a moot point, anyway, since, as you stated, there is no overhead bed.

Anything's possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this kind of major change to the 30' design! :-)

And also, I'm sure for safety's sake, you would not want your son
riding in the overhead cab bed while the vehicle is in motion, right? Grins, Denise
