Question to Art , Searchable Archive
Yahoo Message Number: 50010
I really appreciate what you did in making the searchable archive. I know absolutely nothing about what you went through to make such a computer program. I was curious about something. When I use Google and get the results and then click on the cached file portion the site comes up on the screen with my search words highlighted

My question is, is it possible to make our search words highlighted as well in your archive, or is that a lot of work ?

Thanks JC

Most of the work went into finding ways to get the messages out of the Yahoo archive and inserted into my SQL database.  Once in the database, I mostly rely on functions available in the standard SQL interface to perform the searching.  I'd have to expand the message display routine to accept the list of search keywords, search through each message for keywords and insert HTML tags to perform the highlighting.  I don't think it's something I'll tackle soon, but I'll try to keep it in mind.
