I have read the maintenance manual; I have digested the recommended service on the Ford site; I have searched Art's Archives.  What I'm looking for from you mechanical experts out there are *details* and *extras* to have performed or looked at ... anything you suggest I have inspected or tested that will help prolong the life of my precious Second Wind.

Appointment is in two weeks.  All suggestions and recommendations gladly accepted...my pen is poised!

I don't know what Art has on his list so this is just a laundry list.
Be sure to, in the manual's language, have the brakes inspected.
This is what they call the operation where they lub the calipers so that they will not hang up.  This is a 15k mile service item.  They will also look at the brake pads to see if they need replaced.

You should have the fuel filter changed since a small clog there apparently causes lower engine performance.  I think you have a 2003 coach so it is approaching time to have the coolant and the brake fluid changed.  The coolant looses its anti rust stuff after a couple of years and the brake fluid is (designed to be very) hydroscoptic and needs changed every two or three years also.  This helps to prevent the various components in the brake system from corroding also.  Have them look at the transmission fluid to see if it should be changed.
(i.e., If it is darker and perhaps has a slightly burned odor from being hot.)  Of course an engine oil and oil filter change and probably an air filter.
 If there is anything odd in the way it steers (dragging to one side, looseness, etc.) you could have them inspect the front end and align it.  Do this only if it is a shop that does trucks a lot.  And, just a general look around under the hood and chassis for anything that looks amiss.
 These things will cost a lot of money but they are still cheaper than the repairs caused by not doing them.  Have fun.

 Engine oil and transmission fluid. Change the coolant, if due (some of the newer Ford have 100,000 mile/ 5 year coolant. Have the brakes, hose and belts inspected. Check the owner's manual for other recommended maintenance
 Also, lube the brake caliper slides and have the brake fluid flushed if due. Should do both every two years or so, especially if you live in a moist climate

Good morning
 Per AAA, the two most common causes of highway breakdowns are failed belts & hoses. As with tires, these items lose strength with age as well as use.  I would inspect these items carefully. I do so before every trip. When it comes time to change the belt & all hoses, I do it at 50,000 miles/5 years , I'll carry the old ones with me for emergency road use.

 Art's Archive (http://www.lazydazers.org/Yahoo/msg_display.php>) presently contains copies of all the messages from this list up to January 26 (three days ago). Art updates the archive every couple of weeks. In short, it's just a duplicate of most of this group's message content, but in a database that can be searched far more easily than Yahoo's lame search engine permits doing here.

Lorna, what Linley said for the 30K!  I assume that having the coolant changed also means a radiator flush; I will have them do that, too.  The service manager at Mission Valley says also to rotate the front tires, then balance and align. I won't have the tire stuff done at Mission Valley -- they're not "tire guys" -- but will take my rig to Reinegger's in SJ or do another pilgrimage to Henderson's; I need a couple of things done there anyway.

Henderson's is the very best, especially for tuning up/changing a suspension system.  For ordinary alignment work, I would also recommend Kaiser Brake and Alignment in Eugene, OR and Northside truck service in Portland, OR.

I had the following 30K mile serrvice done at a Ford dealer that works on Motorhomes:
 Flush and fill--Cooling system;P/steering;Transmission.  Also had the Fuel and Air filters replaced, plus the engine oil and filter replaced.
 A multi point inspection was also completed to include tire depth and wear pattern, battery serviced(engine),brakes inspected(disc and drum.
 They also checked the everyday items like windshield washer spray, hoses on radiator, heater and air conditioning, exhaust system steering and steering linkages and many many other items.

I also had an alignment performed.

Total cost between $500-$600

I had an RV Shop that knew we would not be back often or ever recommend we change the fuel filter every other oil change.  They said this was to prevent fuel pump failures.

Thank you all for your recommendation; I knew I could count on you -- the tire rotation especially, had escaped my list.
 I've always been a bit leery of "inspections" because some inspections are little more than "glances"!  Your responses will help me craft an actual TO-DO list of stuff to replace.

Has anyone ever changed the fluid in their rear differential? Not owning an E450 (yet) I haven't done any homework about this service but I would not be surprised if it is recommended between 30-50K.

We had the rear differential fluid changed on our '87 rear lounge last summer. Cost $97.14. It had just over 67K miles on it at the time. We are 3rd owners and didn't see any receipts that this had been done previously.

And where is Henderson's please.   I was to have  the front end aligned at Ford in Petaluma, but their machine wasn't working.   (A good thing?)

I've made some major changes in how I get my archive updated.  The net result is that it should be far less work for me to perform updates.
And I'll be able to do the updates anywhere I have access to a web browser. There "should" not be any noticable changes for users of the archive, but I certainly may have introduced some problem.  So please let me know if anything seems broken or unusual.
