Garmin 2610 overhead mount
Yahoo Message Number: 49926
Hi all,
I previously installed a RAM B mount on the overhead of "Yonder" (26 MB) to hold an aviation GPS (Garmin 196). I recently got a 2610 with 2 gig flash, so needed to modify things a bit.
Photo "Garmin 2610" in Yonder album shows the 2610 mounted in one of Garmins Motorcycle mounts. This mount has a quick release to remove the GPS and has a standard bolt hole pattern on rear to attach a RAM ball. The motorcycle kit from Garmin also includes a power cable with a 2.5 mm phone plug jack, this makes it easy to plug in a speaker. The Radio Shack transciever mini-speaker (shown to left of radar detector) comes with a 10' cord and 3.5 mm plug, so you'll need to cut the cord and solder on a smaller plug to fit Garmin's jack.

I had also previously installed a coaxial power plug socket in the side of the courtesy light. This made it a simple matter to add the appropriate plug to the Garmin supplied wiring harness. Other than soldering on the power plug, no re-wiring of the motorhome required.
The power jack and plug/s I use are R.S. size N, barrel OD is 5.5 and ID is 2.5 mm.

Oh, it works like a charm with the Vertech GPS re-transmitter.

all the best,
