Search engine enhancement

I've just added a small enhancement to the search interface on the searchable archive.  Previously, the keywords were only looked for in the message bodies.  I've added a set of radio buttons to the search interface that allows one to choose whether to search in the body (default), in the subject or sender fields.

Let me know if I've broken anything.

Art,

Great work again.  Thanks.

Perhaps a fourth button for 'All' if that is a possibility?  That's what I would probably expect the search to do.

This was a relatively simple change.  I'll have to research SQL to see if there is an easy way to search all the fields with a single query.
But it's not at the top of my priorities right now.

Here's the deal: while you can search this Yahoo group using the "Search Archive" button (near the upper right area of the web page), Yahoo's search engine is limited and extremely frustrating. But Art Berggreen, whose knowledge of web technologies far exceeds my own, put together an INDEPENDENT archive with a far better search engine than Yahoo's. It includes all the messages from this group, or almost all--it's updated every month or so--and you can really find what you're looking for. It's an invaluable adjunct to this website, and we all owe Art a big debt of gratitude for maintaining it!

Hi All,
For those of you who have wired in 1 - 2 KW inverters did any of you opt for the battery charger option and do away with the converter?  I made that choice in my bus conversion and was happy with it but I had a very large battery bank.

DB Marine is the cheapest I could find the Xantrex Prosine 2000 ($1204).

this is an excellent inverter with 3 stage 100 amp charger. I bought one, but haven't had a chance to install it yet.

I didn't do the work myself, but when Gertie's former owners (and their brother the electrical engineer) rewired Gertie, that's exactly what they did. The three-stage charger included with my 2,000W inverter is electrically superior to anything LD uses, even in recent models. So if you have the bucks and the expertise to do it, go for it!
